He warned me that my old car was not really worth repairing ( a lot of things "on the edge of needing replacement) so instead of me giving him several hundred pounds worth of work, I scrapped my old runabout and bought another one. He didn't benefit from being honest - didn't charge a penny for all the time he spent working out costs and what else needed to be done.
