"Visited A&E today, the children's department, after my six year old son was in an RTC. We arrived at 10.30, triage nurse that first took our details was really friendly and spoke directly to my son in a really kind way. We then went through to the children's A&E and had to wait 10 minutes before a lovely nurse called us through and took my son's temperature, heart rate etc. Back to the waiting room and called in by the doctor about 15 minutes lately, again a very nice man. Encountered about five staff members in the hour that we were there and all of them were kind, helpful and listened with understanding and all helped to make my son feel comfortable and safe after a scary experience!"
"Waited just over 4 hours in A&E after 111 sending me there. Great staff very, very overstretched all doing 12 hour shifts. All lovely and reassuring. They are doing a great job. Numbers did not drop from 70 waiting all that time. Very fortunate to have a hospital only 15 mins away from home."
"This is difficult to say as my prior visit to the James Paget was absolutely tremendous with great help and advice from the staff. However, after going to A&E a few days ago, I waited 5 hours to sit in the chair for the Doctor to look me in the eyes and tell me my problem wasn’t serious. He didn’t even check up on me. He looked at notes, raised his voice at my mother. Told me there was nothing he could do, even when the kind nurses beforehand suggested he may give me anti nausea through the veins to prohibit it occurring again. I had informed him that I’d been dealing with this for over 5 years and this was the worse state it had ever been, and he said I had to go through my GP. I have been trying to get an appointment with my GP for months, and before covid when I did see them, they gave me absolutely nothing useful. I was devastated. He did absolutely nothing to help me, made me feel so unwelcome. I can only thank the kind nurse and other doctor who took my blood sample and temperature. They were lovely. If it wasn’t serious, why was I referred to my hospital through 111? Appalled. Appalled and disgusted."
"In early October 2022 I was recently taken onto Ward 1, having received a scan resulting in the discovery of a stroke on my brain. The support from nurses, doctors, consultants, including catering, tea/coffee and cleaning staff was second to none. Regrettably, my memory of staff names will take a little while longer to remember but the service has been fantastic. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your support has been outstanding."
"I cannot fault all the help this hospital have given me with my mums complex health issues. Especially ward 3 lately - you are all amazing. Thank you for trying your best to help us with the limited availability you have at this time. Each and every one of you have done your very best I am very grateful."
