"Great workshop for seeing all the different tiles etc they can produce. Very knowledgable and friendly chap there. Able to sort us out with some pammets for our kitchen and advise us on finishes to get them looking how they had them displayed."
"Great value and service. We got a terrific logburner, old fireplace removed and new opening made, liner down chimney and hearth installed. All went smoothly and we couldn't be happier with the results"
"From Nottingham to Norwich... an LVT adventure My wife is one of those wives who has exceptional taste in both flooring and men. Unfortunately, this means she is irritatingly picky and only ever wants the finest. We scoured the flooring purveyors in our home town of Nottingham, having disappointing experience after disappointing experience. There seems to be an unusual combination of arrogance and laziness, endemic to this industry. Example, one salesman assured me that he was doing a 'deal' by offering me RRP on his product, perhaps assuming that I neither had access to the internet or the arcane skills required to use a calculator. Eventually we decided that the first option we looked at - Project Floors - Aged Oak - 1265HB was the one for us. Unfortunately, it was on back order for 6 weeks and I would have rather swallowed a house brick, than give our local flooring suppliers our business. I searched the internet and found Earth Wood & Stone in Norwich, gave them a call and got through to Jonathan Flowerday. His salesmanship, professionalism and customer service was a breath of fresh air, restoring my faith in the both this industry and humanity itself. After a brief consultation, he'd answered all our questions and put our minds at ease that we'd chosen the right product. Then he whipped out his pencil, which is so sharp it could pierce the fabric of space and time, and did us an incredible deal. Luckily this was all concluded remotely, otherwise I would now be in jail for snapping his hand off. Jonathan put the flooring on order and somehow it landed the very next week, in spite of Project Floors giving the same lead time as I previously mentioned. Maybe this was a coincidence or maybe the suppliers like dealing with Jonathan as much as we did. If you need flooring or a new stove, don't waste any more time, pick up the phone to Jonathan."
"Amazing service from Jonathan and the highest quality of work from the fitters. I would consider myself as very picky when it comes to the quality of finish in my home and Earth Wood and Stone didn’t disappoint. Their fitters are true professionals who clearly know their trade. This company come very highly recommend by myself and a realnpleasure to deal with."
"Before you read this I need to caveat this review to say it is just my experience and it may have been a one off, however I think it only fair to share what happened during our installation… The initial quote was fine and the install date booked. Albeit that the survey estimated at least 7m2 more that would have been needed adding £350 to the cost that we had to remove. The floor space was 45m2 and the quote was for 57m2 of wood (27% wastage!). When the installer came he immediately got to work. He was clean and tidy when working and completed all cutting outside to avoid mess. However when we inspected the work at the end of the day we had some significant concerns. We had specified a damp proof barrier underlay as we do have some known damp issues. We found that this had not been taped together as required, neither was it run up the sides of the boards and so would have been useless. There were gaps between the boards that had been laid (big enough to roll a 1p coin down). There were a couple of sections that moved when you trod on them (a good 5mm of deflection). There was there was a section that creaked. We also found some of the cutting of boards which would have been left visible were poor. We also found that the flooring (which contained big instructions to leave to acclimatise for several days before installing) had been laid as it came out of the box on the day it was delivered. The following day when the installer came back to continue the work we advised him that we did not want him to continue and contacted the director of the company. We asked the fitter about the defects and he explained that the floor should have been levelled beforehand and that this is what would have been causing the problems. When we asked why he hadn’t mentioned this before starting the work, having had chance to look at the floor, he advised that wasn’t his job. We were told that no levelling was specified at the time of the survey completed by the shop and so all his did was what he was told. The director (Jonathan) was brilliant and offered us a choice of having the floor lifted, having the slab levelled and then the floor reinstalled (at our cost), or, a full refund. We a) couldn’t afford the additional £2k quoted for floor levelling and a dpm and b) couldn’t trust the fitter so opted for a refund. To ensure that the floor wasn’t removed carelessly we removed it ourselves and in doing so found that most of the issues appeared to not be caused by an uneven floor but we suspect that they were actually caused by the fact that the fitter had left large gaps between sections of the underlay! There was no underlay in large sections where the board was deflecting (such as around the fireplaces), no underlay in front of the doors where the boards were creaking and also large gaps at the point of a number of the other defects. As well as causing all these problems it was clear that despite highlighting the need for a damp proof underlay the way that this has been installed meant that it would have had no ability for it to withstand any damp and had the floor been laid it would inevitably have been ruined within a few years anyway. My experience with this company has therefore not been good. The quality of the fitting was very poor and so my advice would be that if you choose to go with this company either ask not to have Richard fit it, or, watch everything he is doing at every point and ensure that you know how your floor should be laid. That said once the issue was highlighted Jonathan was very quick to respond and resolved them. The downside is that I now have bare concrete floors and have to start all over again trying to find a fitter. I have received no compensation (other than the full refund which was given immediately) despite this massive inconvenience and this caused a significant amount of angst and upset. Pictures attached show the quality of the install (gaps between boards) and what I found when lifting the floor…"
