"Stayed for NYE, we were sold a package and told there would be entertainment on the night when we enquired by phone. Food was good and the setting is stunning but the room was the smallest I've ever stayed in and not that clean and a bit shabby. Zero atmosphere around and no entertainment as promised. No countdown at 12. Cost 800 for the night, was very bad value for money."
"Place was amazing, food is great. Definitely going back again, not only for food but to visit the Spa too. Service was good, not great. We ordered a beer from two people and never got it. We had to pour our own wine. The ingredients didn't match the menu therefore if you are allergic to shellfish for example, ask the waiter about ingredients."
"Food ,decor and atmosphere are fantastic. So rustic, charismatic and charming.. staff are friendly an polite but some seen unexperienced. Overall beautiful venue"
"Have stayed at Cliff at Lyons a couple of times and each time is a memorable experience. Accommodation is second to none, surrounded by breath-taking immaculately kept grounds and facilities. Staff can never do enough for you and are both friendly and extremely helpful. Food is amazing. The only disappointing part of any visit is having to leave. Highly recommended!"
"Unfortunately the room we got was nothing like the photos they had on their website. As you can see from the photos, couch had stains all over, kettle and glasses were absolutely filthy, dust over the doors etc. The room felt really dirty and absolutely not worth the money we paid. The glasses in the room were dirty so we called the reception for clean ones. The porter who came to the room asked for the dirty ones back and told us "he will see what he can do for us". Absolutely not acceptable attitude from a hotel that's trying to be "luxurious". Overall building where our room was of very low standard. Stairs were so dirty and it really felt like a cheap B&B. The reception also does not have the right attitude that's required in a high class hotel (that they are trying to be). So overall hotel/room experience was very disappointing. The hotel grounds on the other hand was very lovely. The breakfast at the Orangery, Spa and dinner we had in the Mill was great. That's the reason I'm giving 3 stars overall."
