About the Business
Welcome to Hillsborough Forest & Car Park!
Nestled in the heart of Hillsborough, our institution is a true gem you don't want to miss. As an establishment, our aim is to provide visitors with the ultimate nature experience in a tranquil and serene environment. The park boasts an extensive network of trails, allowing visitors to explore the lush woodland, admire the stunning scenery, and get in touch with nature. From scenic walks to birdwatching, geocaching, and picnicking, there's something for everyone at Hillsborough Forest & Car Park.
Our institution is also a popular point of interest for history buffs. The park is steeped in history, dating back to the medieval period. Formerly known as the Castle Forest, it was part of the estate of Hillsborough Castle, the official residence of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Today, visitors can still see the remnants of the former castle fortifications, including the moat, island, and earthworks.
Our car park is conveniently located on site, offering easy access to the park and its amenities. The car park is secure and well-maintained, providing visitors with peace of mind while they enjoy their day in the park.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. We have excellent facilities, including restrooms, picnic areas, and a children's play area. Our institution is also wheelchair-accessible, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beauty of Hillsborough Forest & Car Park.
At Hillsborough Forest & Car Park, we're committed to preserving the natural environment so that generations to come can also enjoy it. We encourage visitors to help us keep the park beautiful by taking their litter with them and respecting the wildlife.
We look forward to welcoming you to Hillsborough Forest & Car Park, where nature meets history in a truly spectacular setting.

Reviews
"Woodland park is great for the kids. Located behind the lake. Perfect walk anytime of the year. Plenty of places to stop and rest/think/chat or just enjoy the views."
"A wonderful park. A large children's playground. A place where you want to return again and again."
"A beautiful park, very scenic and photogenic. A few decent walks, both short and long. Plus a decent sized carpark. A small van sells coffee and treats."
"Approx 2.2 miles around the lake or up through the trees or along the castle walls. Either way it is a nice relaxing walk which is dog friendly, pity the owners can’t pick up after they do their business. Beautiful swans, ducks and lots of birds set in a nice surroundings and plenty of places to stop and sit and take in the views. I am part of a group called biking adventures and routes Northern Ireland or BARNI and we like to stop off and enjoy beautiful places like this. So get along as you won’t be disappointed."
"Very clean and tidy across the whole forest park. Beautiful views of the lake. There are swans and some ducks. There are multiple trails to follow of different lengths. The red walk has a good mix of lakeside and forest scenery. There is a children's play park that looks very good. It looks large and clean. The park is completely free. I would definitely return."
