"The cottage we rented was lovely, but the electric shower was cracked and leaking, and needed some attention. So I contacted the Toad Hall office in Polperro. It took a few days but someone did come to look at it, sealing the crack. Following this, however, my emails were unanswered. I had a question about conflicting departure time information, but despite sending two emails asking for correct information, I received no response. Had we not planned day trips, then I could have visited the office in Polperro during it's opening hours, but this wasn't possible. In summary, I'd say that the Toad Hall Cottages rental agency in Polperro is OK if everything goes to plan, but if there is a problem or you need information, then you may be on your own."

"Stayed in Penny Cottage Polperro. Nice little cottage clean and tidy but lacked a bit of character we thought and could do with a coat of paint in some areas. Extremely tiny bathroom. The property wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility issues as it is spread over three floors. But in a lovely location and a great base to use for exploring the surrounding areas. We had a bit of an issue with the next door neighbour, who thought because she was a “local and had lived there all her life” it was ok to play loud music till late at night, after asking her politely if she could turn it down slightly, she basically told us to go home ! Of course we didn’t and can say regardless of this we had a lovely holiday . But we would not choose to stay in Penny Cottage again."

"Really lovely company with a polite, friendly and helpful team - they are mostly local to Devon and Cornwall so are very knowledgeable about the cottages and the local area. We have used Toad Hall Cottages for our last three holidays in Devon. The cottages are good quality, comfortable and overall are very clean. Churchunder, where we have stayed for the last two years, was clean and tidy and had been fogged with a professional anti covid treatment. The owners have thought of everything and the house is very well equipped. There was milk in the fridge and tea, coffee and biscuits on our arrival, which is a nice welcoming touch. We had a minor problem with the shower not draining, potentially causing the shower tray to overtop, on both stays which was caused by hair etc blocking the shower trap. I sorted this out myself by removing the hairy blockage. On both occasions I emailed THC to inform them of this and had a very prompt, polite and apologetic reply both times from Liz. These things happen, but it is how they are dealt with that matters and THC were great. They seem to get things sorted out really quickly and professionally once they are contacted about any issues. We have reserved Churchunder again for next year and are looking forward to returning to this lovely house situated overlooking the stunning Yealm Creek in Noss Mayo. Well done Toad Hall Cottages, and well done the owners of Churchunder - we can't wait to return."
