"Nice pub with a good atmosphere. Two log fires burning when we went. Sadly, the bar menu has something to be desired. Small, and, I suspect very microwaved portions for the price. Give the lasagna a miss, dry and lasagna only by name. Curry nice but thin on content. Shame really as I'd go back for the well kept beers and ales but not to eat. Service times are not clear on the web either. But, like I said, a nice place to enjoy good beer."
"Stayed here for a week whilst working away and it's one of the best pubs I've ever stayed in. The rooms are spacious and my personal needs when away are a good shower and quality mattress, I can 100% say that my expectations were exceeded. Food: All fresh produce. I devoured the pie of the day(steak and ale) Scampi and chips (home cooked chips, on all meals) Fish and chips Venison and red wine stew Pricing excellent for the quality of food! Breakfast is unbeatable (especially the sausages) Staff are welcoming, cheerful, professional and very attentive. Beers are crisp! Pub is comfortable with a great atmosphere. Credits to Leah Dave for running a fantastic pub and to mention Emma! excellent people on their team. Outstanding!!!"
"We had a wonderful overnight stay at The Star with friends who were visiting the UK from Australia. Leah & the team made us all feel very welcome, the rooms were spotless & very comfortable, & the food in the restaurant was excellent & wide ranging, which meant the veggies, vegans & gluten free diets of our group were all easily catered for without having to ask or feel like we were making more work for the kitchen. The breakfast was included in the price (which was very reasonable) & was as good as the evening meal - the best vegan breakfast we'd ever eaten out! Would definately recommend."
"Our friends stay here when they come up to the East Midlands. We met up with them for dinner. We were greeted on our arrival. The service and food was excellent. While we were there the place got busy. I also noticed that it was a dog friendly place as well. This place is well worth a visit."
