"UPDATE: WE FINALLY GOT A 50% REFUND SHORTLY AFTER POSTING THIS REVIEW ON TRIPADVISOR! We stayed here just before New Year's eve and the room was freezing. The floor had just been refurbished and there was a problem with the heating system. The staff couldn't get it to work in our room so in the middle of the night they moved us to another room, where the heating didn't work either. Not only that but the wet room smell and the sink leaked. We complained in the morning and they offered us a 25% off voucher then and there or a partial refund that we'd have to wait for... 3 months later and still no refund and when we call about it we just get fobbed off! We were also misled about the parking as we were told we could use a multi story near by. We told reception we had parked there and they noted our reg plate and said that was it sorted. This led us to believe we did not have to pay the car park and it was included in our room price. This was not the case and we got 2 parking charges as we had parked up for half an hour when we arrived to drop our luggage off, then went out and came back later that night. When we initially got the notice, we contacted the hotel who said they'd sort it, only for us to get a final notice a month later and an increased charge... £200! It was only then the staff explained that parking was not included. Fortunately the car park reduced our charge when we appealed it. To be fair, when we looked back at our booking for the room, it does say there is no complementary parking in the small print but you can get a discount. So why couldn't the staff have insured we understood that in the first place? We felt very misled."
"This hotel looks lovely on the inside. Bar area is nicely set up. No complaint about the room. Bed is nice and comfortable. One major complaint is that it was understaffed and the staff that were there although lovely people were clearly not trained but were expected to undertake every job needed to keep the place running. We ordered food that we waited 45 mins for and when it came it was simply inedible. Management need to take a look at themselves and train their staff correctly as the young man that seemed to be in charge was happy to pass the blame to his staff who were very stressed about doing a million jobs at once and barely trained on one. Again the main staff were lovely people but too much was expected of them. I felt sorry for them. Hope their job experience improves in the future."
"Reasonably priced compared to other nearby accommodation. However the toilet constantly leaked water into the bowel, the fire alarm went of in the middle of the night and the bar and restaurant were closed for repairs but wasn't made aware of tis until after the booking"
"Under refurbishment. No restaurant and bar, which I knew of. But due to maintenance, there was no hot water and no attempt to contact guests to inform them and allow them to make alternative plans. Hot water is an essential, not a nice to have. By not informing your guests you removed a major part of the service offering you make. What's next, no bed? Dreadful, and the customer service from the hotel manager has been equally poor in follow up. I won't be going back and I'd advise others to seek out an alternative..."
"The hotel was super busy during my stay but the staff were more than capable of managing it. The room was a bit old but had everything I needed and everything worked. All in all it was a great stay and we'll worth the money."
