"A great walk around Rutland water, this car park has the bike shop, a cafe and is pay and display, by card or contactless. Current pieces are £4 for 4 hours. Watch out for dog poo all over the grass next to the car park. Walk from here heading right and you can enjoy an 8km walk to the next car park and back along a paved path which is family and dog friendly"
"Nice walk alongside Rutland Water to the Church and Dam. It's a shared path and some of the cyclists were very miserable when we got our dogs under control. Our dogs are used to cyclists and so we only did it to be polite. The cafe in the car park was closed but we went to the Waterside cafe for a takeaway coffee which was very nice."
"Plenty of spaces to park. Cost for parking 3 hrs - £4. Perfect place for walking and cycling. Dogs to be kept on leads."
"This car park is the ideal location if you're looking to spend the day around Rutland Water. It's close to Normanton Church too. The car park is pretty large, but is a little pricey (think i paid £8 for 5 hours). In terms of spending many hours walking around the reservoir though, the cost is worth it in my opinion. I believe the entire circuit is about 23 miles so you'll need plenty of time if walking. We did fund a challenge when we got Lyndon Nature Reserve however. It appears you have to purchase a permit to continue to walk near the reservoir however, or take a detour. Many people clearly make a day of visiting here and I can see why. Great for walking, picnics, biking or just sitting and relaxing. Many part are so peaceful."
"Parked at normaton car park and walked around just past the beach and back, approx 10km. Dogs enjoyed it and had a good time. Downside we could hear gun shots at the normaton car park which upset one of my dogs. Not sure if this is farmers or a gun club but it was quite loud. Next time will park at Sykes lane side as didn’t hear any when we were over that way. Plenty of good paths to walk on which are tarmac so easy access for all. Appears to be a cycle heaven even on a quiet day so imagine it’s really bad at the height of summer. Plenty of wildlife to see and parking was reasonable at £4 for three hours. cafe available which we didn’t use so won’t comment on but the toilets were really clean. Recommend you come here when it’s likely to be quiet for a more enjoyable experience."
