"Rude receptionist. Sounded very condescending on phone. Doctors were great. The management wasn't. 111 referred me for urgent GP appointment, receptionist said its not possible and I have to book through some website. I am in severe pain and they couldn't even book a 5 mins call with GP. Very pathetic management. I only joined here since I was a student at University Of Leicester. I don't recommend new students to join here. Very disappointed with the management. Change your receptionist. Please train them how to treat patients properly. You have disclaimer everywhere saying that patients should not speak loudly or angrily with your staff and won't be tolerated and zero tolerance policy. The same applies for your staff as well. They are not gods. Planning on changing to another GP. Edit 1: 21/03/2023 The doctor gave me a new medication for my illness, but it was not available in the UK. When I went to various pharmacies, they told me it would take at least 28 days to restock the medicine. They suggested that I speak to my doctor immediately because it was a psychiatric medication. I tried to contact my doctor six times since yesterday, but they were not responsive. As a result, I have been without medication for over a week, and I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms. It is frustrating and disappointing that I have to plead for medicine, and I feel disgusted by the situation. The administrative staff should display basic politeness by informing the GP of my situation, but they did not even attempt to make any effort to do so."
"All the staff are excellent and I never have to wait too long on the phone, I’m very satisfied with my care at this practice. The use of an online form to book appointments really is great and a lot easier than having to ring up in a long queue like at my last GP. A lot of people seem to be confused about it in these reviews, it might be helpful if you clarify that you can’t book an appointment over the phone unless the website directs you to."
"The receptionists are the downfall of this health centre. The fact that Victoria park health centre is the GP suggested by the university of Leicester is ridiculous given the service provided here. I recently had to visit A&E, where the service was also terrible, and when I finally managed to get through to a doctor instead of asking me about the pain I was complaining about she asked me why I went to A&E and 111 before the GP as if that was the primary concern. After this call the doctor told me to call the reception to make an appointment where I was able to without filling out the online form. I had to call again today to make another appointment as I am still in pain and the receptionist was rude and said I have to fill out the online form instead of her making an appointment for me on the phone whilst I had her there. I filled out the form for it to tell me to call and make an appointment meaning it was a waste of time. The fact that you can only make an online form for one problem is ridiculous. In other encounters the receptionists have tried to diagnose me instead of letting me speak with the actual GP. It’s a joke that this is the GP actively recommended to students."
"I have had to visit here several times over my few years as a registered patient and every time the service has been fantastic. Their system, once you know how to use it, it wonderfully efficient - they direct most people to use their web portal in order to give you advice on whether an appointment with your GP, self medication at home, emergency medical care or something else is appropriate for your symptoms. I have never found this to be in error, and one time in particular it directed me to A&E rather than a GP appointment which I would have otherwise wasted my time on. Receptionists are always professional and courteous and every interaction with medical professionals has been fantastic. The staff are clearly well trained and knowledgeable and I have found the GPs and nurses to be empathetic, professional and efficient."
"I recently joined the University of Leicester and they recommended that I sign up for this GP. I signed up very easily but today I called them as I am in a lot of pain and asked if I could see a doctor. The receptionist told me I have to complete an online form (while in pain and just desperate to see a doctor to simply get antibiotics). I asked the receptionist if I could just describe my symptoms to her instead and she bluntly said no, I must complete the form. I complete the form and the form simply tells me to contact my GP or 111 immediately. So that was a waste of time. I then had to wait in the long phone queue again just to tell the receptionist that this is what the online form said only then for her to get me a telephone consultation. Finally I managed to get an appointment the same day. When I arrived at the practice one of the receptionists (she seemed quite young so maybe a trainee) was rather unprofessional. Although the doctor I saw was great and efficient, sadly I can’t remember her name now but she quickly prescribed me antibiotics and helped me find a local pharmacy."
