"Had the pleasure of watching Sir Ian McKellen perform Hamlet as part of the Edinburgh Festival. Unmistakable from the outside and nestled in Stockbridge it suits it's surroundings well. Picture perfect...if we could get rid of the cars! Importantly the theatre provided a wonderful backdrop to the production. Theatre itself was an hexagon shape. Providing great views for all. Small bar was available at the time...though not sure if just part of the production."
"We were spellbound by this dramatic and emotional re-imagined portrayal of Hamlet. Hamlet's old soul performed by Sir Ian McKellern was riveting. A Fringe must see if you can get tickets."
"Fringe festival Hamlet Ian McKellen Uf...hard to review place because all thoughts are in performance. Staff worked really professionally. People were seated fast and with a good guidance."
"Came here to see Sir Ian McKellen and the cast in Hamlet. Was very surprised by how amazing this venue is. It’s quite a well kept secret I feel - but you should definitely check it out. The art installation which is covering the front right now is also very cool!"
"It's a gorgeous venue, beautiful architecture, the most amazing church organ, incredibly atmospheric with wonderful accoustics. But it's let down by its lack of accessibility. It's understandable that there's an impressive entrance with lots of steps because it's an old imposing building. The biggest issue is the toilets. Hidden away down steep narrow staircases and largely inaccessible during any performance. Yes, it adds to the character of the building, but it's a problem that needs to be addressed. Of course it would cost a significant amount and I imagine that's why it hasn't been tackled yet. Hopefully it will be in the future so that more people feel able to enjoy the magnificence of the venue."
