"Premium quality sports facilities, setting an example to others and showing how to set the standards. Professional and polite staff and well maintained facilities. The only negative is the water supply issue in the gym; this has been an issue for too long."
"Truly a great all-round gym. Fresh and loads of equipment. Indoor and outdoor tennis. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools. High quality spa. Amazing food. But the best is the staff. Everyone professional, with good energy and plenty of smiles."
"Very poor customer service. Not interested in members. Closed the outdoor pool with 3 days notice but insist on 3 months notice to leave, despite not providing the facilities I joined for. Allowed to suspend membership but made to Pay 25% of monthly fee to stay suspended until the pool opens next year. No access to anything despite take money every month."
"I'm not a member, but I went on a Sunday morning to play a tennis match and really liked it. If I lived a bit closer I would probably want to join. Tennis facilities are very good and there are indoor and outdoor courts. The pool looked really inviting. A fair number of people were sitting around relaxing with breakfasts and coffees, and reading the Sunday papers, and that quite appealed."
"Left at the start of the summer 2022, I had been a member for a year. Good points: - Facilities are excellent. Lots of equipment in the gym, pool lovely, steam and sauna lovely and always in good working order. - Staff are all lovely - Facilities were always very clean - The class teachers were very good, especially when teaching their own routines as opposed to the DL classes. Natasha Lewis and Gell Welch were fab and DL should hang onto to them forever if they can. Less good points: -The classes went a bit strange. When I started there was good variety and class teachers taught their own routines. This changed around Christmas to a majority of DL classes, which were usually gimmicky and inflexible. I knew a good few people who left because of this. These classes usually advertised equipment to buy or could be taken via a TV screen, negating the need for an instructor. I understand it was an issue of budget, but for the price of membership I would expect a better offering than what it became. - DL markets itself as family friendly, which is fair enough. But the club resembled a leisure centre most of the time in terms of children running around shouting in all areas apart from the gym space. The female changing rooms in particular were unbearable, no space, screaming, and the annual locker membership all placed in the adult area which made the issue worse. A toddler getting into my zipped bag and taking my razor (!!!) without mum noticing was the straw that made me leave. To be fair, if you have kids the leisure centre atmosphere may be ideal, but it wasn't for me considering how many other clubs are available in the area without this issue. - pPicing and contract. It's well known that you can't get a membership price over the phone for DL, which is frankly ridiculous. I paid around £180 for me and my boyfriend with a corporate discount (platinum). Gave me a free month to start with but due to the way the contracts end I ended up paying for an extra month anyway. Ending a DL contract is more complex than getting a mortgage. Read the small print and then read again if considering."
