"Always a great time going to The Good Store! Love their updates to the dispensers - such a fun shopping experience. Gorgeous fresh bread, love the meal kits too. Support this great business!"
"Our favourite must go to shop for refills of our bottles of olive and rapseed oil, echo washing up and laundry liquid, lentils and veggies. etc. Lovely staff and we feel good about having FAR LESS PLASTIC."
"There's a compelling practical argument to shop at The Good Store. That's an reason in addition to helping tackle the climate crisis by using zero waste eco larders like this one. I've found I can get the quantities of food that I need when I shop Good. Supermarkets are frustrating in that they never package to my requirements with sensible best before dates in mind. I've had online orders delivered to my single occupant flat with several meals all due to go off with the day. What? Am I supposed to eat them all at once and hibernate for the rest of the month? I wish. I fill up a large Tupperware box with organic muesli when I refill at The Good Store. This is a better way. The box fits perfectly in my cupboard space and the muesli stays fresh. On the other end of the quantity scale, I've bought odd numbers of eggs because I rarely get through six before they start to fail the floating test. That's how The Good Store works. If something needs packaging, then bring your own. Weigh your containers at the start of your visit, fill them with as much or as little as you want, weigh them again and pay a flat rate for whatever you put inside. You can also pick up fresh fruit and veggies here. There's also ye olde jars of sweets! Perhaps bribes if the kids have walked to Inverleith with you for but I try not to listen to their sweet candy whispers. Staff are great here to. The idea of weighing something, filling it, weighing it again sounds straight forward but it's a little more complex than that and if you've never done it before then you might have some concerns. There's always help here. And there's advice. If you've questions about going zero waste then there's loads of experience freely offered. Lastly, but not trivial at all is just how clean The Good Store is. You might think with people decanting chilli infused oil from the main tank into their own jar that there would be puddles and spills everywhere. I'm sure it happens! One day it will be me. I've never seen it, though, never once come in to discover an unattended mess. The Good Store feels hygienic and reassuring. All that on top of shopping local, shipping indie and not killing the planet!"
"Great shop. On the first visit they recommended a nice safety razor (which has been excellent). Came back to refill on flour, peanut butter and a number of other things. Really simple, easy to do and reduces some of our waste."
"If you're in Edinburgh and you're looking for zero-waste goodies, then you need to get down to The Good Store. All the food essentials you need, refills for your kitchen and bathroom, and friendly faces. Just make sure to bring your empty jars and boxes!"
