"I've stayed at the Cheshire for a few one night stays for work, it's improved marginally in the space of a year as there is now a proper reception area. Agree with other reviews on security, my windows and doors have not seemed secure every time I've been there with windows often not locking or shutting completely. No chain on hotel door which as a solo female traveller is not ideal. It's great if you want to be in central London, but it is very noisy due to poor sound proofing and the busy area. Bring earplugs!"
"Really enjoyed my stay in the Cheshire Hotel. Booked a single room, but since it was my first time staying there, I was upgraded to a double room at no extra cost, customer service is a 10/10. The staff are so polite and welcoming and it's super affordable and pocket friendly and the WIFI , excellent. Highly recommended."
"I was happy with my stay at this hotel. Great location. Clean and big (enough) room for me. Bed was big, bathroom size was not a problem either. Storage for both my clothes and items. Would recommend if you want to stay at a local and nice hotel."
"My boyfriend booked this hotel for a late Christmas present for me alongside Matilda theatre tickets. The hotel was well located, within a short walk of plenty of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. It was within walking distance of tube stations and theatres as well. We only stayed one night but the area surrounding the hotel felt safe. We didn’t speak to the staff much at the hotel but they seemed friendly from the encounters we had with them. I noted a few issues during my stay: The hotel looked fairly modern, but many jobs hadn’t been completed correctly or there were snags such as broken, squeaky taps, poor paint work and poorly located doors. We were in room 205 which seemed to come with the added extra of a constant squeaking sound coming from the bathroom!! There were quite a few marks on the walls in the room. The shower was a nightmare the work on the morning of our checkout when we used it. One tap kept falling off and the other tap seemed to work the temperature, pressure and the on / off button. It was incredibly confusing and it clearly had faults that hadn’t been fixed as it took us 5 minutes to turn it off. I burnt myself twice whilst using the shower as it could become extremely hot very fast. My boyfriend also burnt himself whilst using the shower and he also slipped and had a fall resulting in painful swelling and bruising despite having the bath mat down, it slipped away from the base of the bath anyway which seems a big hazard. If you stay here please be aware of this and perhaps just check your shower properly first and ask to move rooms if it’s a big issue. Ours was an issue on the morning of the check out so there wasn’t much we could do then. Finally, this may just be a temporary issue, but there were roadworks being carried out when we arrived which we weren’t made aware of in advance. Drilling occurred from 8am in the morning, waking us up on our day of check out. It finished around 4pm. If you’re looking to book it would be a good idea just to check if the road works are still being carried out as it was very loud. The hotel wasn’t sound proof, so you could hear everything outside even with your windows closed including everything in the corridor too. Overall, if you’re looking for a cheaper place to stay in a good location in London for a night and you don’t mind a few snags then this might work for you. Personally, I wouldn’t stay again and I’d use chain hotels such as Leonardo or Hilton which I’ve always had a good experience at."
"The Hotel looks beautiful on the outside, but this, the central location and the bathroom cleanliness are about the only positive things about this hotel. The staff is exceptionally incompetent. The door to the room did not have a door handle (meaning that when you leave the room, you need to put your key in, twist, and pull the door shut by the key), and it cannot be locked securely. The windows do not lock securely either. There are notes in the elevator stating that you should keep your belongings safe and that theft is not their responsibility, but there is no safe to keep your valuables in, so this seems an impossible task. The room itself is cozy, but very small and cramped. There are no wardrobes to store any clothes in, only a single bar with coat hangers. The WiFi is very flaky and unstable, and at times completely absent, which would be the norm in a rural B&B 20 years ago, but is inexcusable in today's day and age in the heart of London. The hotel lobby looks like a cheap student hostel reception, and far worse than most of the ones I saw in southeast Asia. I didn't even dare to ask for any option to have breakfast or dinner at the hotel, or whether there were any other facilities. Lastly, it took me a full 30 minutes on the phone with the reception to receive a correctly addressed invoice with all the necessary details and the actual costs details on it. After this absolute waste of time, the lady (who admittedly at least tried to be helpful, but failed miserably at that) had the audacity to ask me to leave a good review. Hence, this review."
