"Good for location, right by kings cross station and a 10 minute bus to Camden market. Breakfast was decent, was mostly pastries and cereal tho. The room was the same as how it looked online so no surprises, and good price for a triple in london"
"Terrible experience ever! Sorry for not taking any photo of the hotel, cuz it is not even worth one second of my time to shoot it. If I could, I will give them zero star in one night in the house of tobby London. I will never choose it again. Interestingly, they claim they are a four-star hotel, but they don’t even have a lift and my room fee was covered by two breakfasts, but I was never told that the time will be between 730 and 930. Also that I the room is very small and moist, I could even even turn my back around. In the night, you can even hear talkings from other rooms. Of course, the noise from streetcars. The waitress are very rude, and I was told in the morning that the check out time will be 10:30 in the morning which is the earliest hotel check out time that I have known in UK. Most importantly, the waiters just asked us to put the luggage in the public area which is very dangerous cause there’s no security for our luggage bags. Before I went to the other hotel with similar price, I thought may be the quality matches the price. However, it is not true at all. For the future travels I will highly recommend that you choose other hotels and I hope the manager of the house of Tory London please drop the stars from 4. Thank you."
"I cannot say much about this hotel since I only stayed for about 11 hours, to sleep close to St Pancras International where my train left from the next morning. My room was small but clean. I didn’t have time for breakfast."
"Pros: * Professional front desk staff (well done Maulik). * Good location (hour walk to tourist sites and 5 minute walk to kings cross station + coffee shops and stores/supermarkets). * Towels and shower gels provided. *Free complimentary breakfast. Cons: * Basement rooms dirty, dirty alleyway view out of window and poor circulation in rooms. No warning when booking online that the room is in the basement. * Rooms in general are very VERY dusty. Stayed for 2 nights at the house of Toby whilst visiting London with my partner. We were greeted at reception by Maulik who was polite, professional and a credit to the house of Toby. At no point during booking were we told that we would have a room in the basement with a lovely view of a dirty alleyway. Not a good start to our house of Toby experience. The room, whilst very posh in appearance and design was a little rundown, the walls and carpet were dirty and the room itself was VERY dusty. The light fixings next to the bed were COATED in dust and opening the window to our own dirty alleyway didn't help as no circulation was there, due to us being in the basement. We also had to request fresh linens for the night as they also left a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness. With all the issues we had with the first room, we requested a new room above ground (at least) so we could get some much needed airflow into the room. Maulik was happy to allocate a new room for us but could not until the morning. So we unfortunately had to stay in the basement for one night, not ideal at all. Our second room was a lot better than the first. Nice wide opening windows, clean carpet/walls and we were on the second floor. Our view was again of an alleyway but we were above said alley and preferred this over a noisy, street-facing window. Once again though, the room was VERY dusty. It seems the housekeeping at the house of Toby leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to keeping the rooms fresh and breathable. The complimentary breakfast was fine. A good selection of cold pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals and hot drinks. The perfect start to the day after a night's sleep. Other amenities included a bar (which we didn't take advantage of) and they will also store your luggage for the day once you have checked out. Incredibly handy as we didn't fancy lugging our bags around on our last day's visit. A very mixed stay for us at the house of Toby. It seems they put you into the basement regardless of booking and hope you don't complain and when you do, they're quick to move you to a better room. The dust was a little bit much, the light fixings next to the bed were like a complimentary cup of dust free with every room and the particles were like a snow storm when the window was opened. With that being said, we did sleep well during our 2 nights stay. The location was about an hour's walk to the tourist areas of London with many coffee shops and stores on the way. The breakfast was great for its price (free) and Maulik was an absolute gentleman during our visit. Please note, there is no parking on site. The nearest car park is Eurostar parking around the corner from the hotel (recommended by the hotel too) which judging by the reviews I've seen is known for vandalism, theft, car break-ins and a lack of CCTV in the area. We opted to travel by train for this very reason. I think 3 stars is a generous rating for the house of Toby. Please give your hotel, rooms and beds a nice, deep, thorough clean and maybe we will see you again in the future."
"Very poor!! Rooms small and both rooms next door felt as tho they were in my room! It’s very loud can hear the room next door make any noise! Music played all night till around 4am. To make it worse when I got home realised I had left my hair straighteners for the reception to be very rude and tell me absolutely no one had taken them so I must be lying or made a mistake! These wer worth £150 and I know exactly were I left them to cool but forgot was hoping they would be decent to send them back! However the only good is the location to kingcross was only a few minutes walk."
