"Stayed here for new years eve 2022 and straight away I felt welcomed as soon as I got there, grabbed a drink at the bar & then checked in quickly. Managed to get a bottom bunk for the night and the bed was super comfy! You can also get a (simple) breakfast for £3 in the morning which was a life saver for me on a hangover before brunch. Victor was working during my stay and he was brilliant, taking care of anything I needed help with! Thank you Victor! My pro tip is to remember to take a photo of the inside door code before leaving it on your bed clip & heading out (I almost didn't think of it) and that for check out you have to bring down your linen (luckily I spotted this on a notice on the wall, maybe I missed this info during check in) :)"
"I will try to stick to the facts here. My friend and I had a very bad time at the hostel (we stayed three nights). The location is very good (public transportation, big parks, cool pubs around). The staff is unprofessionnal and doesn't seem to care about neither the hostel itself nor the clients. The dorms are very small, hot, they stink, and the bunk beds are too tight to sit in. The windows are also very difficult to open. The toilets and showers aren't clean. The walls are stained and moldy, the floors are wet and full of old wet toilet paper. There is no hooks/shelves to put your belongings, nothing to dry off your hands and the toilet paper is left directly on the floor. One toilet (out of 3) was always blocked. I'm saying the dorms-plural here because I hear other clients complaining about the same stuff at the reception. We had a problem with the reservation (they switched us to a big mixed dorm even if we had reserved for a small female one) so we asked for a discount, which we had after waiting 45 minutes to pay because they forgot us while we were still sitting in the reception next to them. We had to remind them who we were and that it's themselves who had checked us in. When asked if we had a good time, we said no, and they started to show us instagram accounts of hot people coming from our country (I swear) and telling us that it's too bad that we were in the room that stinks a lot. Finally, this is my opinion here, but the ambiance is weird. The black walls in the living room/reception are an interesting choice. And finally, if you're not a 45yo male, you might not feel comfortable in this place."
"The hostel is perfectly located and the staff is nice and helpful. However, the hostel itself doesn't look clean (walls and carpet look dirty/moldy) and the disposition of the dorms make them feel overcrowded (impossible to sit on the bed without hitting you head on the ceiling). It would be a good idea to aerate the rooms to prevent them of smelling bad and feel warm and humid. The bathrooms are very small and the floor is often wet which makes it difficult to change/brush teeth/etc. Adding a little shelf to put your belongings that can not be put on a hook would already be a good start to make guests feel more comfortable. Would not recommend."
"Phoenix is a positive surprise with a great location. Besides the standard hostel facilities there is a cozy bar downstairs to chill, do some work or just hang out. The staff they I have come across have all been helpful and chatty. Special thanks to Victor who seems to enjoy running the ship with a smile on his face"
