"Had the misfortune of dealing with shacklocks for a recent house move. They were working for the end of our chain and they constantly held up proceedings. They still rely on post rather than email for simple documentation and seem to be very much stuck in the past. Simple issues raised with them took weeks to sort and their communication with the other solicitors and estate agents in the chain left a lot to be desired. I think some of their conveyancing team have lost the joy for the job and seem to be intent on being awkward. The best one was when we were told they needed permission from a partner of the firm for same day exchange and complete. Why would a qualified lawyer of 15 years need permission to do something that is very common place? If you want a smooth house move then look elsewhere as I doubt you'll get that from shacklocks."
