"After having my house insurance with Legal & General for 15 years, I have now moved to another provider but why? Well my renewal increased by £65 for no apparent reason. I obtained a number of quotes from other providers who offered the same cover at a lower price. I contacted Legal & General by phone, listened to many message informing me they were on reduced staffing and people were working from home. Eventually an agent answered and when I explained my query, he replied ‘We do not negotiate on price’ I have decided to take my custom elsewhere. This attitude reflects customers do not matter."
"If you want to insure your pets with Legal and General, take my advice and don't bother! The service is absolutely appalling, I submitted a claim toward the start of February and have received no correspondence about it. If I have wanted any updates I have had to chase them constantly and if you want to speak to the claims team they have to arrange for someone to call you back. Eventually, after several calls by myself, I was advised that the claim was rejected because the dog had surgery the day before he was ill. I explained that our vet advised the illness was in no way related to the surgery only to be told that I would need to contact my vet and get a letter to send to them to confirm this. When I spoke to my vet they advised that Legal and General are always trying to get out of paying claims. Also, how can a claims handler make a decision that an illness is a result of surgery when they are not trained vets! Surely if they had any doubt they should have contacted the vets to clarify this rather than simply rejecting the claim!?"
"Absolutely Disgusting! I am appalled by and devastated to hear that my friend has recently had no right other than being forced to leave such a well known insurance company. Whilst he was on probation, unfortunately the lad's grandad had passed away in Pakistan. After taking 3 weeks off to go to Pakistan and see the last of his grandad by attending his funeral, when he came back to work, he was forced to leave (with either a resignation or a sack)"
"I have a policy with Legal & General. On this Policy I have Emergency Breakdown Cover. I phoned a lady on the Home Emergency Team at 17-10 on the 15th of December Today explaining to her that my Gas Boiler and Electric Immersion Heater had both broken down. She asks me how old each one was I told they were both 10 years old exactly. She goes away for about 5 minutes and comes back and says sorry we cant help you because your boiler and Immersion heater are both more than 8 years old. Well what can I say, why is this not on the policy and furthermore when I took out the insurance why did my broker not ask me about this aspect and indeed why am I paying for an element of the Insurance which is useless to me. The horrible Legal & General are stating that if you have a boiler more than 8 years old you can and freeze because we ain't helping you. I hope that all your staff have broken boilers this Christmas you bunch of Scrooges. You are an horrible Company as are my brokers the Pavey Group for allowing such a third rate insurer to insure me. I realy feel Cheated. This Company should be avoided as they are a heartless bunch of people."
"Absolutely awful customer service, attempted to make a potential claim through the broker and no one from legal and general came back to me. Had to get someone to fix the issue, what is the point of having the insurance policy?? When I phoned to complain they were quite dismissive, me and my husband have our pensions, life insurance's also with them. We will be moving as soon as we can. I cannot trust a company that has such appalling service, if it was a real emergency, god help me!!!"
