"ZERO STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION. Absolutely disgusted with this place. I booked weeks ago, even spoke to them on the phone to check they allowed dogs etc. was told to book online. Booked online, made sure I included in the notes that my dog and daughter were also staying. Then TWO DAYS before we we were due to stay they sent an email to say they were cancelling my booking as children are not allowed!!!??? No phone call, just an email, of which I didn’t pick up until the night before travel. I called to ask for help. I was told ‘have no idea where you can stay but not here’ DISGUSTING SERVICE! DO NOT BOOK HERE. Now left with family travelling in the cold, no where to stay whilst we travel the length of he country to visit family for Christmas. Boycott if you can."
"The location is somewhat nice but the room was terrible. The ceiling in the shower slanted so that it was hard to stand straight while showering. There were steps into the bathroom that were difficult to navigate, a pillowcase was ripped, the carpets were stained, and we were not provided a bath math until the second day. At night, 10 large piles of (apparently clean) laundry were deposited on the shared small landing, blocking our room door until we moved them. Our advice - stay elsewhere."
"I booked a room here on the day I needed it as due to a last minute change of plans I needed to stay in Newark and I didn’t fancy booking into a Premier Inn, I’m so glad that I found it! Accessing the room was really easy, with a code to access the main door and the key was just inside the room, the owner was friendly and very accommodating. I stayed in room 3 which is a nice sized twin with a big en-suite shower room. Perfect location for central Newark (I wandered 20 meters next door for dinner) I’ll definitely be back next time I’m up (and hopefully I’ll be able to book a little more in advance next time)"
"I have given Riverside Rooms 5 as I would definitely come here again if I was in Newark. The location is great, in the middle of the town yet off the main road on the river. I stayed on a Tuesday night in June and it was very quiet and peaceful. My reservation would be about how noisy it might be on a hot sunny day/evening. There is a bar next door with tables out by the river and the Riverside itself includes a Gin Cafe which appears to open from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The tables for this are facing the river but right outside your windows so I wonder how intrusive that could be? The room was nice (Riverside 1). Things I didn't like were the multitude of plastic plants especially the ones hanging over your head in bed, they seem really pointless and cheapen the look of the room. The bed frame is annoying. It had a ledge at the top of the head board that is really uncomfortable if you are sitting up in bed and it has another ledge at the bottom that I constantly walked into - I had to put a cushion there in the end. The wardrobe is really poor quality (it looks fine, its just really cheaply made) and an old one upcycled would be much nicer. The ensuite is down two quite steep and small stairs so it is worth being aware if you have mobility issues. It also is under the eaves so the headroom is small. The bathroom could do with a run round by a handyman just tidying up some of the cracks along the bottom of the roof and filling the places where the plasterboard was screwed on. However those are all minor things and I see them as things the owners can do to bring the place up a notch but they were not enough to drop it down from a 5 star review."
"Beautiful rooms in a perfect location! Super comfy beds and lovely tea, coffee and hot chocolate options in the room. I can highly recommend Ann et Vin wine bar for a vino or gin before dinner and Gannets do a super tasty breakfast, just a few min walk from the room."
