"I would give 0 stars if I could. They told me my appointment was 16:45pm I travelled half an hour in rush hour traffic for them to tell me I was booked in for 15:45 and now they can’t see us for another few days meanwhile my dog is suffering. If you read the other reviews there are more that have experienced the same issue. The fact they made a mistake and still couldn’t take 5 minutes to see a suffering dog is discusting, call yourselves a vet. 45 minute drive back now. Avoid."
"Thank you to the team for looking after our family dog George over the years. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. The staff are caring, compassionate and professional. They made a very sad situation manageable. Can’t ask for more."
"I am very disappointed in the level of care my mums dog has received and that I have received from here. My mum is 86 and has dementia she has a 12 year old dog who had an appointment at the practice today. I only get Tuesday and Wednesday off so her friend made a special visit to take him. She arrived at 10.25 for what I thought was a 10.30 appointment. Apparently I got the time wrong and it should have been at 10.15 but they refused to see him. He has lumps on his body and hates being picked up so it was an effort to get there. The appointment was for flee treatment and a check up. They didn't even offer to just do the free treatment. I am appalled by this. Apparently they were behind on appointments anyway so assume he would have been seen later. I phoned to complain and was told the receptionist would get back to me with a time to collect the flee treatment when she had spoken to the vet. Nobody called me. I will have to try to chase this up again tomorrow from work. In the meantime the poor dog is scratching which is so unfair."
"To be honest I blame myself for sticking with this vet so long after all they seem to ever want to do is push pills and extort you. The final straw was a procedure my dog recently had to test a lump on her paw to see if it was a harmless growth or something more sinister. I was offered a blood test which was £174 and was told I would have the results within the week. When the results came back I was told the test had failed as there was ‘too much blood in the blood’. I was offered the opportunity to have the lump tested again but I would have to pay for the test AGAIN. So if it fails 10 times it would cost me almost £2000? I have complained and asked for a refund to which they told a mistruth that I had been warned there was a chance the procedure would fail. As good as my witness I was NEVER warned it could fail and I wouldn’t be able to have a re-test! If I had I wouldn’t be complaining and leaving this review. I know what’s right and I know that them lying isn’t right so here we are. I went to my new vet who were honest and told me the limo was probably harmless and it would drop off within a few weeks. It did. Notice how they didn’t try to extort me? Also past problems I’ve had at holly house due to them closing in the first lockdown they advised I should have my dogs 2nd DHP vaccine done 3 times. It was supposed to be done a month after the first but due to them shutting they said the jab must start again as it would have been a week late which made all the difference apparently. The 3rd attempt to inject her almost killed her and I had to rush her to emergency hospital 10 minutes later. Due to this experience I will NEVER have my dog injected with anything again. She suffered terribly. They never took the blame and said she was probably effected by a puppy chew I gave her Another issues they prescribed prednisone for minor allergies and said she was unlikely to suffer any side effects. She almost panted herself to death and I tapered her straight off them. This surgery is concerned more about money and drug dealing than they are about your pets welfare. Avoid. Like I say I’m an idiot for sticking with them so long so more fool me. I now go to pike moor vets in westhoughton and no issues so far and no attempts to extort me which is easily done when you love your pet and will pay anything to see them well The fact that they have lied and said I was warned the blood test I mentioned could fail and I would have to pay again is the primary reason for this review. I’ve been charged £30 from them before for a thimble full of antibacterial shampoo which the full bottle would have cost less and have paid for x40 the price for paracetamol. More fool me but I love my dog and am easily taken advantage off when she’s not well"
"Jess on reception and Charlotte the vet were absolutely brilliant. We also spoke to a vet nurse as part of our visit who was equally very helpful. We were 300 miles from home and had an emergency with our pet. We were extremely impressed with everything about Holly House Vet practice. We felt our dog Barney was looked after with great care and detail. Thank you so much for being so thorough and reassuring about the tests and treatment you gave Barney. Everything was explained very clearly to us. We really appreciated it. Thank you. The Poston Family, Eastbourne"
