"First the good points: large car park with spacious parking bays, large store with roomy aisles, good choice of good quality well priced foods. Bad points: tills are really only set up to service customers who are buying a handful of items at a time. If you are doing a full shop you will end up with a big queue of people behind you being impatient and till staff glaring at you instead of serving you politely. Even the card machine has been set up to beep at you in a fast staccato that brings on anxiety. I don't know how older people cope with shopping here unless they are only buying a couple of items at a time. I don't see how they would be able to keep up with the speed the till staff scan items with then expect you to be able to move them into your trolley at the same speed which isn't even possible for a younger person unless you were to throw everything into your trolley like you were doing supermarket sweep... the last time i was at this store the very pretty young till operative was bordering on hostile glaring at me presumably for not going fast enough to keep up with her... no matter how much I smiled at her she just glared back. Then the man behind me in the queue actually physically PUSHED me put of the way before I'd had the chance to put my purse back in my bag... very stressful and unpleasant shopping experience... Lidl have huge advertising billboards showing comparison cost of a big shop with market rivals but the checkout experience is so unpleasant I'd actually rather pay a bit more at tesco and not be treated like cattle."
"Recently seen some horrifying footage of chickens suffering at the hands of Lidl suppliers. The fact that Lidl France has already pledged to stop selling fast-growing chickens but that Lidl GB won’t sign the Better Chicken Commitment and do the same is so backwards. When are you going to address this?!"
"I was about to buy some chicken at this store when I saw a card informing me that Lidl sells Frankenchickens, bred in painful and unethical conditions. Until Lidl sign the Better Chicken Commitment to guarantee that their chickens come from ethical suppliers I will not be shopping there!"
"I've been a loyal customer for years, but recently found a little card on the fresh chicken, which I scanned and was horrified to see undercover footage of Lidl chicken farms. There's absolutely no need for that kind of suffering, and it's definitely not big on quality. I won't be shopping in Lidl again until they start taking animal welfare seriously."
"Lidl say they are "big on quality" but I've seen lots of videos recently of Lidl chickens that are deformed and injured :-( Not top quality at all. It's disgusting to be still selling chickens that are treated this way. Please sign up to the Better Chicken Commitment, Lidl!"
