"Awful customer experience. Despite taking the payment for the full service due to “issues with the system” they couldn’t fit me on the day booked. Can easily invalidate people’s service history and affect future car price when selling not to mention the inconvenience time and money spent on getting there and back with 0 result. Outrageous"

"Attempt to scam - or more likely just too busy to do a proper check? I should note that I used the 'Free Repair Check' from the Halfords website, I don't know if that had anything to do with it. After my 2009 smart car developed a noise when driving, I looked for a garage I could trust as I'm new to the area - have used Halfords in Manchester for the past 10 years. I took it in, place was absolutely packed, but was told to park it up where I could and they'd take a look in the next few hours. I get a phone call later, quoting £620 of repairs (the car is worth around £1500-1800). I asked for a breakdown and they said the brake caliper is broke, the brake disc would need replacing as well as the brake pads, brake grease costs extra and on top of that would need a four-wheel alignment. Also said it would fail an MOT because of this. Amazingly, they had worked that out without taking the wheel off - I know because the wheelnut key is hidden and I'd forgot to get it out for them (this was confirmed later by a mechanic). I expressed surprise to the gent on the phone, who umm'd and ahh'd and brought the quote down to £500 as his absolute minimum. I said sorry but I'll need to get a second opinion. 24 Hours later my issue is resolved after going to another local garage, turns out the caliper was fine and everything just needed a deep clean - charged me £105 for 1.5hrs work. I can only assume this mistake was down to laziness rather than malice... but would they have corrected it if I'd agreed to the quote and then they'd realised their mistake?"

"Fantastic service! Suspected issue with car battery so booked online for a free battery test at 08:30 next day. Was met by Yan and the team who took the car into the workshop, performed the test (confirming that there was an issue), provided me with a printed record and I was all done within 15 mins. They greeted several other customers while I waited, all dealt with professionally and welcomed with a smile and respect. Great team. Thank you."
