"Splendid, and free, visit to Sheffield Manor Lodge today. Famous for, amongst other historical things, a 12th century hunting lodge, Tudor Manor house and the residence of Mary, Queen of Scots during the 16th century. Whilst much of the walls and boundary buildings are mere ruin, the Turret House is still intact and the ground and first floors open to the public, accessible by the original stone winding staircase. Great place to immerse yourself into history for 2 to 3 hours. Free parking for around 15 vehicles. Toilets and café onsite."
"Lovely gardens, interesting castle ruins and fun sand pit, outdoor games and crafts. The Manor Lodge also has some costumes to dress up and learn about the history. Perfect for a day exploring with the kids."
"Lovely place to come for a few hours to explore and learn a little local history. Free to get in and a fun trim trail on the hill outside too. Kids enjoy dressing up in the tower."
"Absolutely brilliant! It's just a nice way to spend a couple of hours learning about where we live, on certain days there's kids activities, dressing up in the lodge, you can get a guided tour, lovely flowers depending on season, lovely staff and a few nice spots for a picnic, you can walk further down to the little farm and a lovely cafe or walk onto Norfolk Park and into town, we really enjoyed our afternoon."
