"Visited as night fell and really appreciated the harmonious blend of sacred and secular - steel sculptures of Mary, Joseph and the Christ Child alongside seasonal trees decorated by local community groups. The extensive renovations in recent years blend smoothly with the C16th architecture of the original building, modern lighting allows one to appreciate the interior detail, and friendly church staff are helpful and welcoming. Although we are not Sheffield people, we intend to return to the cathedral to share in future events."
"What a treat! The cathedral lies in the heart of the city and is surrounded by grass obviously much enjoyed by local workers enjoying their lunchtime break in the sunshine. The cathedral is an extended mediaeval parish church, which now has a number of side chapels, and a crypt, as well as the original nave and choir, and a west end extension with fabulous modern glass. There was a marvelous stainless steel Nativity scene and a really beautiful simple stainless steel font. It was great to see the place busy, with a lunchtime wedding hotly followed by a rehearsal by the youth orchestra. Good loos! And a very nice coffee shop and a gift shop. Welcoming and friendly staff."
"A break from retail therapy to discover this 'hotchpotch' house of God. What a fascinating communion of chapels and parish church to become a unique cathedral. From volunteer guides to altar rail polishing Verger, our welcome was warm and enthusiastic - eager to share deeper knowledge and points of interest but not 'in your face' pushiness. We took time out to light a devotional tea light, grateful for the daily grace that is so often taken for granted. Highly recommend time out, wandering and reflection moments here, certainly the most memorable experience of our day trip to Sheffield."
"Beautiful cathedral. Lots of interesting history. Gorgeous stained glass windows. Lovely calligraphy (see photos). We'll worth a visit."
"Despite having lived in Sheffield for a few years, I'd never actually paid much attention to the cathedral. I went in the other day, had a good explore and found some really interesting stuff! It's a nice space and a lot more impressive inside than it is outside. It was particularly interesting to me that there were several different spaces with altars, all in very different styles!"
