"I booked my Tesla in for an MOT. I arrived on time and my car was seen straight away, delivered back in great time and all at a good price. Thanks you"
"I had a very bad experience at this centre where showed that they are either incompetent or dishonest as they specified work entirely not needed on two MoT failure points The ‘engineer’ categorically told me that handbrake failure needed new brake pads, discs and calliper when in fact the brake pads were virtually brand new – literally only a few miles since replacement. Having looked myself at the pads after getting their ‘diagnosis’ and checked that they were still entirely like new I reported this back to them and they claimed that it’s not necessary to inspect the current condition of the brakes as part of the MOT and he hadn’t been able to easily see them. So he just lumped in a huge extra cost that was not needed whatsoever. Dishonest/Incompetent? Both I would say. The emissions test failure again was categorically down to a leaking rear silencer. Once again I had a look myself to check for any signs of rust or holes in this and again the only part of this that had corroded was the small C clamp which costs less than £10. As with the brake pads, Coco the engineer specified work on a guess. From my direct experience it seems these people offer discounted MoT prices in the hope of getting failures and then simply lump in random and unnecessary work. NEVER again going to trust Halfords for MOTs and I strongly suggest you treat any quotes to remedy failures with the utmost suspicion."
"Terrible! My car has different sized tyres on front and back. I needed to replace the rears, so they checked the front tyre type and put them on the back. I only discovered this issue when the MOT was due and the manufacturer told me what happened. They took no responsibility and denied everything. Avoid."
"Booked an MOT here for my car as this branch was close to my work, had never been here before. Was called and told my car had failed the MOT on the brake pads and two front tyres being worn below the legal limit, they said they could replace them both there and then and I was told it would be a total of £240 for the pads and tyres, I agreed to this. They then called back 20 mins later and told me I need new brake discs as the brake discs were worn below “the limit”, being told this I assumed they were worn below the legal limit. I told them I’d phone them back as they said that would be another £250 to fix. My dad then called on my behalf and was told that they aren’t below the legal limit, it’s below the car manufacturers recommendations, they had worded it in a way to me hoping that I’d just say yes so they could get more money on the repairs, they clearly like to try and scam young women who don’t really know much about cars. When I turned up to collect my car I was told the total bill was £350 which was not what I was told on the phone, but I paid it as the work had been done. When leaving the test centre I checked the MOT certificate to see that the car had only failed on the brake pads and NOT the tyres, the tyres were an advisory, despite me being told that the tyres were also what the car had failed on. The tyres cost me £250, if I had known that they were an advisory I would have just repaired the brake pads and gone elsewhere for the tyres. Really disappointing that garages like this take advantage of young women as they know they don’t know too much about cars and will try to get more money out of them. Definitely do not recommend this branch as the manager is a liar."
"MOT - was slick and efficient. Booking process online is super easy. Does what it says on the tin. Folks in store were great. Not sure why they think their waiting room is a C-19 risk but one day some muppet in head office will remember to send an email updating the branches."
