"We had booked a hen do at the hotel mainly as it had spa facilities. On arrival on a Saturday we were told that we couldn't use the pool as they had swimming lessons going on, the sauna was full of teenage boys so we didn't feel comfortable using that either. We had booked a private experience and as we got seated for the event we were told that they weren't opening the bar in our room as it wasn't worth it for 18 people and that we had to go to the bar for drinks when we had eaten our starters! nothing had been said previously which I felt was really rude. They did allow us, grudgingly, to order some wine for the tables This meant that throughout the evening half of the party were in different places which didn't help the event flow well. The food was shocking, I feel like it was left over Xmas dinners that they had got out of the freezer and the main course was completely disgusting. We were then told to leave the room (that was booked until 12) at around 10.30 as they needed to set up for a wedding fare the next day. We refused as we had paid for it. At 11.45pm we went to the bar and were told that it was closed as there had been a disruption and the bar staff "had had enough and were going home" as we questioned this we were told that we had had enough to drink and to go to bed!! Most of the staff were amazing though but the bar manager (I presume) was so rude. All in all not a great experience of the hotel, the rooms were fine although stripy wallpaper and stripy floors made you feel a bit sick. see picture"
"Fantastic room, large, comfy, snuggly bed and covers. Really friendly helpful staff. Clean pool. The only thing that lets this place down is the sports bar. If you’re a family and want to stay in the hotel to eat it’s very loud and full of drunken men. The meal and drinks was very expensive and my steak for £21 was as tough as old boots. Ate it because we were starving. Looked like was a table of refugees behind us not sure if they are staying here? Eyeballing other customers and unpacking weird stuff onto their table? Very odd behaviour. I would say lovely for a stay over but avoid eating at the “bar and grill”"
"We stayed for a night on our Christmas works do. The evening meal was great and prices were very reasonable. The rooms were clean and the beds are really comfortable! The gym's well-equipped, the pool is a good size and the morning routine of a quick swim, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were blissful!! Very welcoming and smiley staff, too. Overall, a great hotel. Only thing I would criticise were the scrambled eggs, they weren't too good. Maybe some fried or poached eggs and more variety of fruit would go down better."
"The positives about the room is that it has a comfortable bed and pillows, good shower and decent temperature. But the rooms are looking pretty tired. Lots of peeling paint, furniture that needs replacing and in need of a deep clean rather than just surface cleaning. Also, hardly any plug sockets and none near the bed. The kettle is really slow and the tea and coffee options are very basic. Cups and spoons provided weren't fully clean. Mobile phone signal in my bedroom was almost non-existent. If I stood by the window I got a faint signal. Thankfully the hotel's free WiFi is reasonable. The restaurant is basically a noisy sports bar. Not ideal at all if you don't like live football crowds while you're eating! The menu is my mostly grill style food but there are some nice salad options and a few other options if you don't like burgers etc. To be fair the food is good quality even if it's not my ideal menu. The car park doesn't have an EV charger but there's one at the pub opposite, although it costs £1/kWh! Most hotel staff are friendly and happy to help."
"Stayed here for work recently; reasonably priced and easily accessed from the A55. Decently sized and nicely appointed rooms. No hot water in the hotel when I arrived around 6pm; apparently I should have been told at check-in but wasn’t. Thankfully it was fixed by morning. Also no one asked for my car registration at check-in, so I had to return to Reception to confirm, for fear of my car being ticketed/clamped. Didn’t get a chance to use the leisure facilities but they appeared very popular. The adjacent Pub & Grill isn’t my type of place; too many sports screens, too bright and no cask ales. I do, however, understand why others may like it. Also, I had to wait 10 minutes to get served at the bar as the staff were too busy serving food or maybe were taking a break; rare to see an unoccupied bar for so long, maybe it was my bad timing again. The breakfast staff, however, were hard working and very friendly, and the food was decent. I would return but things could definitely be improved here."
