"They lack mechanical knowledge car was cutting out and they thought it was turbo problems so recommended me to specialist turbo garage who said it wasn't,so took it to my normal mechanic sat autos who diagnosed faulty injectors,if downes had done a leak back test they would have found this also,they were already replacing the glow plug injector cable and injector seals which is a simple quick job how can they charge me 4 hours at £68ph for that?£600 totalI am sorry but I do not recommend this garage,very disappointed"

"My partner a I have been using John Downes on and off ( off because of warranty) This week my old merc was due for the MOT, I new one headlamp was miss aligned, I advised the technician, no problem, realigned before the MOT, no advisory this year. "I have used John Downes garage a couple of times now after previously using a well known garage for numerous years and I can’t recommend them enough! The first time I used them I found I had a flat tyre on my drive. The mechanic walked to my house to put air into the tyre, drove it back to the garage, and fixed it all for the most reasonable price! Today, after a thorough inspection/test drive and consequently no repairs being done, and an explanation as to what was causing an issue, I wasn’t charged a penny. They are so thorough, friendly and reasonable that I know that I will use this garage for many many years to come and have recommended them to family members without hesitation."

"I recently used John Downes Garage as my air intake pipe had blown. As I’d broken down in Bristol at the time and had a temp fix done, my wife called the garage for me. Receptionist was lovely and really helpful. So I went in on the way home. John took a look straight away. They ordered the part for me and fixed it, all in under 3 hours!! Can’t recommend these guys enough. All round excellent service. Rare! Thanks again!"

"Lovely garage with great staff who treat you like they want to help. We have got some issues with our car which have proven difficult to find the reason behind but the mechanics have given us lots of time and patience and kept digging into the issue for us, they are genuine and try to help rather than rip you off "fixing" something that isn't the issue to begin with. Will be using again of course :) thank you!"
