"Started as a driver on 8th November and told the boss I wanted to work 8-4.30.. the hours were never confirmed and I never received a contract stating my hours. I’ve never been bothered about contracts so continued. Was asked to work 9-5.30 which although I didn’t want to (too late finish) I accepted, however, I was employed as a Van Driver without a van. Was expected to deliver parts in a car, which again I accepted and was ok with although the driver of the said car wanted it back for 4.30 which meant my hours of 9-5.30 didn’t work and was expected to work in the warehouse for an hour- No! That’s not why I accepted the job. I was statistically the best driver after a couple of weeks because I am good at what I do but was messed about on my last day. I started at 8.30 AM, had 15 minutes break (everyone else had 30) and was meant to finish at 5.00 PM. At 4.55 I was told I needed to do an extra job that would take me over an hour due to traffic at that time of day. I never went back to that job, however, still did the extra run in my own car which I wasn’t insured for. This is what these companies expect from someone!! That’s why they can charge minimum prices because they pay minimum wage."
