"Most unfriendly establishment I've ever visited. Waited 5 minutes for someone to attend. There wasn't anyone else at the bar. When the bar tender finally appeared, just grunted at me. No manners either. Finished my drink quickly and left. Edit after reponse No German Sheppard, definitely the right place. I ordered a Becks and double Jameson. Saturday afternoon around 4.30pm. I sat bar side on the table with the stool."
"What have they done to this beautiful old pub? It still got the old furniture but they've just splashed white (?) paint on the walls and it now looks odd. Further, they have stuck screens on the walls which do nothing but advertise the pub itself. The final insult was the constant muzak that would embarrass a lift. It still has a wide selection of beers. We left at 9.15 on a Friday night and there were only 2 others left. This in a pub that used to be packed."
"Excellent improvement under new management. Good beer choice and quality, friendly welcome. They also do some food now, though I haven't tried it yet."
"First time visit since it reopened. A good selection of real ales. My first pint was off but it was quickly replaced with an alternative. The bar man was friendly and attentive. The place feels and looks better but managing to keep its original features and old world charms. A big improvement."
"Great place for some great ales."
