"Incredibly rude woman behind the counter with an over-opinionated view of non-dairy milk amongst other things. If you ask for it, regardless of the reason, expect to be literally shouted at in front of everyone. This woman is a disgrace to the hospitality profession. You can hear her shouting and raving about her ridiculous views from a mile off - so uncomfortable. Really do not recommended coming to this café, there are many more cafés a few minutes walk away in the village where you'll be treated in a normal, friendly manner. Still shocked at this awful woman lol."
"I asked if they had oat milk as I have a very serious dairy allergy and I was shouted at, told they proudly support the dairy industry and offered San Miguel as my milk alternative. As I walked away embarrassed and upset I heard the same rude lady shouting and ranting after me about how ridiculous my request was. I'm still confused as to why it happened, if you have an allergy please avoid this cafe at all costs as they absolutely do not take it seriously and you could end up very ill."
"Been to this little gem of a place regularly for coffee and snacks. Such friendly service and today at the Halloween sweetie hunt they excelled themselves in putting on a fun and child friendly event. Thank you so much Abney Cafe!"
"Cute little cafe. Standard coffee and butties. Nothing fancy but just what you want on a morning dog walk."
"Update, received a really nice apology. Its a basic cafe, but a coffee for a quid, and a lovely area, to have a walk. Have revised my scores from 1 star to above. We quite often visit the cafe when taking our dog for a walk, and it's great that there are water bowls available a an outside tap to fill. We quite often have a brew, but had not taken any money. The person running the cafe asked if we wanted a drink, and we explained we normally do, but had forgotten any money. Anyway our dog was running around playing with other dogs, and was drinking some water, and the bowl needed filling. I went to fill it, but no water came out. I went and asked the person, and he said, "because we had not bought any drinks, we could not have any water for the dog. To be honest I could not believe how mean this was, and told him so, and returned the bowl, which bounced of the counter and onto the floor. I told my wife, and she was surprised. Next thing he comes out screaming that I threw the bowl at him, coming right up to me very aggressively. He then became very verbal, and think on there were customers watching this, as he shouts that if you don't by a drink, no water for your dogs. This is the first time ever a place has refused water for our dog, whether we purchased anything or not. I tried to explain we normally do buy something, and one time the lady gave us a drink, when we forgot money, and we paid for it on our next visit. Then he said if we had been regularly, he would have given water, but the mad thing is we had already said that. I thought he was going to get physical, the way he acted, and not a very good experience. Very poor."
