"Iva was very patient and supportive to get me the booking I wanted. The welcome was really friendly and internally the decor is very contemporary without losing the old world charm of the building fabric. Outside it's a stylish old building and what you find inside is a very nice surprise. A good range of beers, wines spirits and especially ... whiskies. the owner (or the Chef) has not made the classic mistake of modern day eateries of creating a huge menu with nothing particularly well cooked. The Menu here, is well thought through, small (but enough choice to provide most diners with something). The presentation, portions, chef skills were all exemplary on every course. Let's get the only negative we have for the place out of the way, the price range of the wines is high. It's possible today, to get very good wines are more than affordable prices. The choice of wine by the glass is weak; (an excellent example of innovation in wine choice by bottle or glass can be found at annother establishment along the road) However, this point wouldn't stop me going again, we'd either grit our teeth when ordering wine, or drink beer. This is an excellent place for a meal, and while away a few hours relaxing. The 'wine' point already made, takes the Prince of Wales into the 'definitely not cheap' range, but it is still good value for money. Well worth a visit, we'll be going again."
"Came here for a Birthday celebration on a mid week evening. The service was fantastic and the food was top class too! Highly recommend to anyone in the area"
"When you sit down in a well presented pub and look at the menu, you're always ever hopeful that you may be tempted to take a turn off the usual road. That road being the burger, the fish and chips or even the default first exit of a steak. The Prince of Wales has those options, the belly pork looked good on another table but something drew me back to the steak, I'm not sure what it was, but it was a great choice. Probably the best steak I've had in a UK pub in the last five years, cooked to preference with just the right level of seasoning in the pan. Eat here, its well worth it."
"We enjoyed an excellent meal here. The welcome was very warm and professional. The food is high quality, and the setting is comfortable. There was a barking dog and rowdy locals downstairs, so sitting upstairs may be advised for a quieter evening."
"We were really looking forward to the meal after reading the menu - as it seemed like an above avg kind of gastropub. We ordered 2 persons worth of soda bread and butter, the Sheffield honey butter itself was very nice, garnished with nigella seeds and spring onions. We laughed when the bread arrived. It reminded us of the tiny bread roll on the plane. It was served on top of some popcorn kernels- which is a bit of a waste of food, assuming they don't reuse them. They could have been a bit more generous with the bread so I could properly enjoy the butter. The lamb belly was nice but very fatty with little meat and the beef cheek was extremely salty. The beef burger was very nice though. We enjoyed the pinot grigio. Service was friendly but you can tell they are understaffed- like most places nowadays. We mentioned our feedback when we paid and the manager took in our feedback very well. We feel it has such great potentials but got let down but little things that can be fixed."
