"We always go to the black bull when we visit family and have always enjoyed it. However it seems to have drifted away from what we like. We never liked all the tvs which you cannot escape from. I have commented before asking why they are not turned off during the day or when there is nothing on. Fair enough, live footie or other sports, it’s a mixed pub after all. However we lived with them. But now things have got worse as not only are they on all the time but the bloody sound is on too. This makes the place awful. We ate there and the food was ok but the atmosphere was terrible. We will be giving a miss in future. If you want to eat in a sports bar, it’s for you."

"Been a few times and it's never been better than "ok" But this most recent visit sealed it for us and we won't go back. Advertised as family and dog friendly. By dog friendly, that apparently means letting people have dog on a long lead wandering from table to table. We love dogs, have our own, but getting tripped by one whose lead is all over the place, or getting sniffed at while trying to eat...no thanks. Then family friendly....sorry, but the language coming from the table of rowdy blokes says otherwise. And I mean, REALLY foul language at the tops of their voices. Not once did any of the staff say anything. And maybe we'd have sucked that up if we got some amazing food, but it was just average pub food. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a tiny old place that could be a lovely little village type pub, but instead it's part of a big chain and trying to be all things to all people. It doesn't work. Loads of much nicer places around."

"What a lovely pub. Came in for lunch and a couple of drinks last week with the family and what an experience. Served by Lucy & Sarah who made us feel so welcome from walking in the door to leaving. We will definitely be coming back. Food was to such a high standard too."

"Called into this place the other year and didn’t get to have a good look round the place but it definitely is warm n cozy pub . What hit me straight away walking through the door was the smell of food and people eating and looking like they were enjoying there food . I got there around 1615 waiting on my large group of friends to turn up the bar was long the bar staff were freindly plus the place was clean n tidy plus you could either order at the bar or on the app which is a brilliant idea . 5 hours later we definitely enjoyed are stay this place looks great but next time I’m having a bite to eat ."
