"Met with a frosty reception when we asked for 2 highchairs. The lady serving us was passive agressive, and asked where we planned to place the highchairs, almost making a scene. Feeling uncomfortable, I asked where she would like the chairs placed as I sensed an undertone that she wasn't happy with where they were. It was a bit odd, and created a tense atmosphere with people starring. After taking our order , and walking away both me and my friend commented how she had made us feel uncomfortable. The food was nice, but the service took away from the whole experience. Such as shame as we have been supporting this local cafe for over 6 years, but was not so welcomed with our 2 year old son. Such a shame as the food was nice. I went back 3 months later to see, if perhaps, this feedback had been taken on board and things had improved as I would love to support a local business... I sat down with my husband, friend, and our 2 little boys. We asked if 2 highchairs were available, and were told both were fine to use. Both were placed in a high chair and we ordered our food. Ten minutes later we were asked to remove one of our children from the high chair as someone had pre booked a chair 5 mins before we came in. Yet again, made to feel very uncomfortable. The lady couldn't even look me in the eye as she herself knew this was completely inappropriate. This is the 2nd time we have been made to feel like this. Very obviously not child friendly. No real warmth or apology either by the staff. I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but how foolish was I!!! Also, £30 down! Don't be complacent with your existing customer base. Please alter your attitude as I have felt humiliation on 2 occasions by the way you have treated my family. The cafe opposite have always been so very welcoming in comparison."
"Nice decor, popped in here as i was hungry. I ordered the steak which was cooked on a panini press and served with a side of baked beans. Not had it before but I must admit it was very nice. the problem came when I leant back and my jacket caught fire, not one person in the place told me I was alight! it was only when the fire alarm went off that i noticed and the waitress poured a vase of water over my back....much to my surprise. The saving grace was Graham from the kitchen who sewed my coat up, free of charge. Thanks guys I will be back with a flame retardant suit!!"
"Warm welcome, really friendly staff and delicious food!"
"Beautifully cooked full English breakfast with pot of tea for one. Excellent quality ingredients with a comprehensive choice. Swift, polite and helpful service."
"Not the cheapest place but I expect to pay a bit more for good quality. This was certainly good quality. We only had a couple of takeaway breakfast sandwiches and coffees but the sandwiches were the best we'd had in years. The staff were friendly taking our order and didn't mind me asking for my sandwich done in a specific way either. Really accommodating, really good quality food, tasty egg, lovely sausages and beautiful, fresh bread. Will definitely stop again when we're next passing."
