The Croatian migrants and their descendants, who were instrumental in the construction of Canberra and the Snowy Hydro, still consider Mirna their home. Over the years, Mirna has evolved and transformed, changing its name from the Croatian Home (Hrvatski Dom) to The Australian Croatian Club.
