"Please check your hotel's CCTV for the brawl that happened inside your hotel adjacent to our room and outside the building too. While we were trying to sleep we could hear loud door slamming noises and all sorts of dirty words loud in the gallery and outside. At one point we were thinking to just leave the place and sleep in the car. In terms of good things, undoubtedly the host Ken was nice and tried his best with resources available but not the place for me."

"Had a really nice stay at Kawerau Hotel for the night. Ken was very friendly and accommodating. I had initially rung to let them know that I may be a bit late for the check-in, and they told me that they'll wait for my arrival. Ken ensured that I was able to park my car in a safe place off-street and had shared a few places where I could dine for the night/breakfast. Was also given utensils to use despite not dining in their bar establishment downstairs. Aside from the top-notice service, the room was relatively clean and was as described. Wi-fi was also pretty good, compared to others' where I've previously stayed at. Had a good rest over the night, was worried the bar may be a disturbance but have not awoken due to any loud noises. Have met some of the other staff as well and they were all lovely. Thanks for the wonderful stay Kawerau Hotel :)"

"Awesome host so friendly fast helpful, has a bbq area and a dinning area upstairs in progress, looking great can't wait almost done when I was there..Has a shared kitchen with cuppa n kitchen facilities,value for money stay. Spa pool few steps away,take aways variety and park for kids, Will always stay here when in town, thanx so much for having us Ken ,your amazing"

"To be honest I wasn't expecting much from our stay, expected just a simple night stop with no frills. Rooms and bathrooms were surprisingly kept at a good standard, clean and well maintained. The term "don't judge a book from its cover" very well applies here. Much to add the the hotel is a pet project of the owner to as his goal is to develop an aging hotel and turn it into a must stop motel, so note on further improvements in the upcoming months. To share a funny experience we had our carkeys accidently locked in while unpacking, but the owner/manager Ken went over mountains to help us by calling for help and making sure our stay was fun and pleasant. And to even invite us to Karaoke night at the bar downstairs with the locals which we had a blast with. Final thoughts - I would definitely make sure to make this part of my road trip route the next time I visit NZ. The locals, hotel, and owner all of them made our stop unexpectedly fun and vibrant."

"The owner, Ken was so accommodating and thoughtful! Above and beyond service! Friday nights are karaoke nights and we were lucky to sing with the locals while playing pool. Beds are super comfy as well! Great view just outside the hotel."
