In addition to our comprehensive curriculum, we offer a diverse range of extracurricular activities to enrich our students' educational experience. One of our exciting offerings is the opportunity for children to learn Japanese drumming through our drumming team, O-Taiko.

O-Taiko, supported by the School of Performing Arts at the University of Otago, will be starting up children's Japanese drumming classes for children aged 6 to 12 years old. These classes will be taught by senior members of O-Taiko, who are experts in this art form. We believe that learning taiko will not only develop musical skills but also promote cultural understanding and appreciation.

To give students a taste of taiko before committing to the 20-week course, O-Taiko will be running three free children's drumming workshops on the following dates: 14th April, 19th May, and 16th June. These workshops will take place at the Taiko Room, University of Otago, located at 96 Anzac Avenue, Dunedin.

If your child enjoys the workshops and wants to continue learning taiko, the 20-week course will commence on the 28th of July 2019, running on Sundays throughout Terms 2 and 3.
