About the Business
Waipawa Kindergarten is a charming establishment located in the small township of Waipawa in Central Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Situated on Kenilworth Street, number 39, our kindergarten is surrounded by spacious grounds adorned with beautiful mature trees that provide refreshing shade during the summer months. We take pride in our outdoor environment, which offers ample opportunities for physical play. Children can enjoy a large grass area, monkey bars, swings, climbing equipment, and a spacious sandpit.
As a silver enviroschool's Kindergarten, we have a strong focus on sustainability. We actively teach our children about sustainable practices such as growing fruits and vegetables, which we share with our community. Additionally, we engage in composting, waste reduction, and water conservation, particularly during dryer conditions. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our special native garden called Rangimarie, where we educate children about native insects, birds, and plants.
At Waipawa Kindergarten, our dedicated teachers are passionate about building meaningful relationships with both children and families. Being part of the local community allows us to frequently encounter our families while out and about, fostering a strong sense of connection. We warmly welcome new families to our area and kindergarten, and we genuinely enjoy learning about each child's family and cultural background. It is common for siblings to attend our kindergarten together, which not only supports our families but also encourages tuakana/teina relationships, with older children guiding and supporting younger learners.
Waipawa Kindergarten embraces the values of Whakawhanaungatanga, ako, whakaute, aroha, and manaaki. We prioritize building strong, welcoming, and trusting relationships with our whanau (extended family). Our teaching approach involves active involvement from teachers, children, and families in the learning process. We promote tuakana/teina relationships, where older children support and guide younger ones in their learning journey. Demonstrating manaaki, we show respect, generosity, kindness, and care. Our teachers foster children's self-belief, encouraging a love for learning. We also instill a sense of kaitiakitanga, teaching children to care for and protect our precious environment.
At Waipawa Kindergarten, we celebrate and nurture each child's unique qualities, fostering their spirit and overall well-being. Our teachers prioritize building relationships that support children's happiness and flourishing, ensuring they thrive and learn. Mindfulness is a key aspect of our teaching philosophy, as we practice and teach focused attention, emotional balance, and overall well-being.
We are proud to offer up to 30 hours of free early childhood education when you attest your 20 free hours. Terms and conditions apply. Our qualified staff hold various qualifications, including a Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), Diploma of Teaching (ECE), Diploma of Teaching (ECE) combined with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood), and a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) with an Early Childhood Pathway.
