"Beautiful Iconic motel. The service was 5star, nothing too much trouble and polite wonderful staff. Wonderful food from restaurant and room service prompt and lovely. The room itself had some minor maintenance required and the water pressure was poor. All else was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and central location to explore Dunedin. Definitely go have a meal at the casino, the architecture alone makes it worth a look. Beautiful old buildings."
"Lovely room, quiet if you get a room at the rear or up high. Customer service is excellent with very friendly staff. Only criticism is of the front of house staff in the restaurant who was never at the front counter, did not clear tables and was more interested in getting your room number and a signature on the docket than actually interacting or providing any service."
"Scenic Hotel Southern Cross is a 5/5 for me. Attending a conference, we found the check-in process quick and easy. Tips for users of the lift - scan your card on the 'floor lock' which on one of the lifts, is located on the side wall. Took us a while to figure out why we weren't moving! Rooms are 'very' roomy and not your typical hotel bedroom. I had a Super King bed which was 'super' comfortable. Loved the small 'magnified mirror' in the bathroom - all Hotels need these! One small point, the showers are over the bath (I asked other guests from our conference and they were all similar). If you have difficulty stepping in and out of a bath, beware of this. Location was an easy stroll to the Octagen or the many other restaurants nearby. There was some street noise, but it was a Friday and Saturday night, so really out of their control. Breakfast was a full buffet and offered great choice with nothing looking like it had sat there 'forever'. One coffee urn possibly needs to be rectified as the queue got a little tiresome. The toast machine may need a going over - I had to send my toast through 3 times and it 'just' made toast status. Staff were really friendly and it was an enjoyable stay. Congratulations"
"Stayed three nights, not the first stay, so knew what to expect. It’s a convenient, clean and quiet hotel with many on-site dining options. The Ports o’ Call bar and grill is very handy for a meal or a before and / or after dinner drink."
"It was fine. Clean and tidy. Wifi was good. Staff were good. Just a few small things that could be improved, for some reason the room I was in had 1 ceiling light in the main room area, so it was a bit dark, the window let some noise in I think because a latch had been broken off. Not a fan of the bathroom facilities, shared pump bottles and the cheapest toilet paper."
