Welcome to Carlyle Kindergarten, located in the beautiful Hawke's Bay region of Napier, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to providing a top-notch educational experience for young children.

At Carlyle Kindergarten, we take pride in celebrating Napier's rich history while embracing 21st Century learning. We believe in incorporating the 'Virtues Project' into our daily lives and staying current with the latest theories and practices in education. In fact, we recently conducted an ICT Research project focusing on literacy, showcasing our commitment to providing the best learning opportunities for our students.

One of the highlights of our kindergarten is our lush and vibrant outdoor environment. It is a space that is not only admired but also ever-changing, providing endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Our dedicated teachers and enthusiastic children welcome interested families to come and experience the magic of Carlyle Kindergarten.

In addition to our regular activities, we also host an exciting overnight sleepover for parents and children, transforming our kindergarten into a 'tent city'. It is a memorable experience that brings families closer together and creates lasting memories.

Safety is our utmost priority, and in the event of an emergency evacuation, our designated destination is Lucknow Terrace, conveniently located across from Carlyle Street.

Our session times are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm, providing flexibility for working families. We maintain a staff to child ratio of 1 teacher to 10 children, ensuring that each child receives individual attention and support. We also have additional non-teaching staff to provide additional assistance and care.

At Carlyle Kindergarten, our philosophy revolves around fostering friendships, feeding enthusiasm, igniting curiosity, and connecting with the community. We believe that learning should be a joyful experience, and our dedicated staff is passionate about teaching and creating an environment where children thrive.

We are proud to share some of our favorite comments from the 2019 ERO report. Children at Carlyle Kindergarten experience warm and welcoming relationships with their teachers. Effective teaching strategies support their social and emotional development, while thoughtful conversations promote rich oral language skills. Our collaborative approach encourages problem-solving and challenges children's thinking, and we always make sure to acknowledge and encourage their efforts and successes.

Our curriculum reflects our belief in the importance of New Zealand's unique cultural heritage, and we integrate te reo me ngā tikanga Māori (Māori language and culture) into our daily activities. Māori children in particular experience an environment where their language and culture are affirmed and celebrated.
