About the Business
Welcome to Papamoa Hills Regional Park parking! Located at 58B Poplar Lane in Papamoa, New Zealand, our establishment is a popular park and point of interest for locals and visitors alike. Please note that currently, a rāhui (temporary prohibition) is in place until further notice. The Department of Conservation (DOC) is actively investigating the area and conducting testing. For more information and to check which tracks are closed, please visit our website.
Situated 17km south of Tauranga along the Te Puke Highway, our park offers a variety of activities and attractions. The main walking track starts from the car park on Poplar Lane and takes you to the trig station, standing at an elevation of 224m. This track winds through the stunning native bush and open farmland, showcasing the terracing on several historic Māori pā sites. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic coastal view.
In addition to the main track, there are several other trails that allow you to explore the rich cultural heritage of the park while enjoying the expansive views. Each track leads you to one of the six pā sites within the park boundary. While most tracks are well-maintained, we recommend wearing good walking shoes and having a reasonable level of fitness. Don't forget to bring a bottle of water, as there is no drinking water supply available in the park.
To enhance your visit, an information board in the car park provides further details about park usage. It's important to note that the park is also an operational farm, so we kindly ask visitors to always leave gates as they found them.
Papamoa Hills Regional Park is proudly managed by the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. We strive to maintain the park's natural beauty and cultural significance, offering a memorable experience for all who visit. Come and immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings and uncover the rich history of this remarkable area.

Reviews
"Great walk up to the top, 20 to 30 minutes. Awesome views."
"Challenging walk initially if you aren't used to steep inclines but the scenery, nature, fresh air is wonderful for your soul. Once you get into your stride it gets easier and many stops are provided with seating and amazing views and once you get to the top the views are like nothing on earth. Cast your eyes towards The Mount, Papamoa, Te Puke and take in the gorgeous sights. There are a few different walks available depending on how you want to tackle this natural area and paradise. Beautiful car park space and toilets make for a great place to go get active in the outdoors. Enjoy!"
"Always a good walking track moderate difficulty I would say, can be pretty steep at times but we'll worth it. The day I went was cloudy and foggy but can confirm on a bright clear day the views would be phenomenal."
"Been before but went on different track this time. Still lovely place to just go and soak up the scenery. This way was shorter, coming from other side across paddocks. Had to look down at all times so you didn't step in cow or sheep poo. Came out almost at summit"
"Beautiful hills to walk and the views when you reach to the summit is spectacular love it that's why I always go there for my walking and run."
