Reviews
"Stunning scenery. It’s way down the other end of the coastline, away from Mt Maunganui, by Maketu"
"Excellent fishing area. A great wharf to fish off."
"It feels like the old NZ that I left in the 90's. I have just returned for a visit in 2023, to find that lovely old New Zealand spot full of local families fishing and relaxing together. There's plenty of walking to do down the spit towards Maketu. Make a day of it, and combine the river mouth and spit with the near by Kaituna Wetland. Finish the day at a café down at Maketu"
"Perfect for a day and night surfcast, lots of parking, but be sure to meet a packed beach regardless of the time. Love fishing there, great spot, family friendly. Take a BBQ out and Maketu Beach around the corner for pipis."
"If you like a walk along the beach, do the Kaituna Cut Reserve. We did it with two dogs and just enjoyed it to hear the waves rolling on the beach. Many nice shells to find."
