About the Business
Welcome to Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao, a primary school located in the beautiful semi-rural area of Clarkville, just a short drive from Kaiapoi in New Zealand. With a history spanning 149 years, our school has been providing quality education to generations of children in the area. Many of our current students have parents and grandparents who also attended Clarkville School, creating a strong sense of community and tradition.
In 2022, we were honored to receive our new name, Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao, gifted to us by Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri runanga from Tuahiwi marae. This name holds a special meaning as it translates to "school of the cold water," representing our close proximity to the Waimakariri River. Along with our new name, we were also given our school Cultural Narrative, a valuable document that provides insights into the historical significance of our land.
At Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao, we have a dedicated and talented teaching team who work tirelessly to provide a unique and special education for our 200 students. Our curriculum is inquiry-based, allowing children to explore their interests while developing important skills for the ever-changing world. We also prioritize the well-being of our students, fostering healthy practices, relationships, and self-awareness to ensure their flourishing.
Our school values are integral to the Clarkville experience, encouraging children to display these values through their hard work and interactions with others. We are fortunate to have a supportive School Board and a wonderful Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) who work in partnership with our staff to provide special opportunities and experiences for our students.
Our vision at Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao is for our students to choose to be more, to become relentless learners and global citizens. Our mission is to grow individuals who care, know themselves, question, and make things happen through collaboration. We believe in empowering our students to become confident learners who love to learn and contribute positively to the world.
