Welcome to Te Ara Sophia, a unique institution located in Christchurch, New Zealand. Situated at 275 Fifield Terrace, our center is dedicated to fostering and supporting a creative approach to conscious parenting in modern times. We offer a range of therapies, services, community groups, and activities to cater to the diverse needs of parents and families.

Housed in the former Novalis House/Helios health center building, Te Ara Sophia is a hub for resident practitioners, therapists, and various community activities. Our center is designed to provide a nurturing environment where parents can explore and enhance their parenting skills while connecting with like-minded individuals.

At Te Ara Sophia, we believe in the spiritual science of human development, health, and education as pioneered by Rudolf Steiner. Our mission is to incorporate Steiner's insights into our work and activities, allowing parents to develop a deeper understanding of their children's needs and abilities.

The Te Ara Sophia initiative was born in 2010 as a response to the community's call for a more holistic approach to parenting and education. A dedicated group of parents, teachers, and grandparents came together to establish a foundation for this work, complementing the services offered by the medical center and school.

Unfortunately, the devastating earthquakes in 2011 put a temporary halt to our endeavors. However, the need for conscious parenting remains as vital as ever. With the purchase of the property and the departure of the medical center, Te Ara Sophia has been revitalized and expanded to fulfill its original intentions.

By renting space in our center, practitioners and therapists are able to support and contribute to this important impulse. This activity not only helps us become self-supporting but also secures undeveloped land for the future expansion of the school, ensuring minimal impact on existing play areas and gardens.
