About the Business
Welcome to Te Awamutu Medical Centre, located on Bank Street in the heart of Te Awamutu, New Zealand. Our institution is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to you and your whanau (family).
At Te Awamutu Medical Centre, we pride ourselves on our team of friendly and welcoming doctors and health professionals. When you register with one of our GPs, you will receive personalized and continuous care. Your chosen doctor will be familiar with your medical history and that of your family, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of your healthcare needs.
In addition to our exceptional GP services, we also offer nurse-led services, visiting specialists, and a convenient drop-in urgent care clinic. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive range of healthcare options to cater to all of your medical needs.
To enhance your healthcare experience, we encourage you to sign up for our Manage My Health online patient portal. This secure platform allows you to access your medical information and communicate with your GP, saving you valuable time and reducing costs.
We understand that healthcare needs can arise outside of our regular opening hours. In such cases, we recommend contacting our after-hours provider, Angelsea Clinic, or Healthline for assistance. Alternatively, you can arrange a virtual GP consultation through the Practice Plus link on our website.
Please note that all patients visiting our clinic will be screened, and it is mandatory to wear a mask on our premises. We kindly request that you bring your own mask to your appointments.
Due to high demand and reduced staff, some of our services may be operating at reduced capacity, and processing repeat prescriptions may take longer than usual. To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend ordering repeat scripts 2-3 days in advance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Our Casualty department is available for on-the-day accidents and urgent medical issues on a walk-in basis. Please be aware that wait times may vary throughout the day, as patients with the most urgent medical needs will be prioritized. Our dedicated nurses and reception staff will provide you with up-to-date wait times and guidance.
For your convenience, we offer telephone consultations as an alternative to face-to-face appointments with your GP. This option may be more suitable for you and is charged at the same rate. Please inquire about this when booking your appointment.
If you require follow-up care for fractures, sports injuries, or strains, we hold a fracture clinic every Thursday afternoon. Our experienced GPs, Dr. Frances Stringfellow and Dr. Alison Glover, will ensure your recovery stays on track.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we kindly request that if you are experiencing cough, fever, flu-like symptoms, or loss of smell, please refrain from entering the clinic. Instead, stay in your car or at home and contact us at 07 872 0300. We will either arrange for a clinician to see you in the carpark or provide further instructions.
We are pleased to offer Saturday morning appointments from 9am-12pm; however, please note that a surcharge applies on Saturdays, and Community Service Card discounts do not apply.
At Te Awamutu Medical Centre, we are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community. Trust us to be your partner in health and well-being. Contact us today to schedule an appointment or learn more about our services.

Reviews
"Charged for maternity care. Waited 40minutes just to get seen by the nurse. Unacceptable."
"Terrible. I can never get into book an appointment. I feel as though I am inconvenienceing them by even calling. Not to mention I finally managed to book an appointment, then I was called back later on to be told it had been cancelled and moved to later on in the day. Im so over this place so I have enrolled at another medical centre at victoria clinic and have received amazing service there, and I feel as though I have actually been looked after. Wont be looking back here again"
"As a new patient I was very happy with the service I have received. The staff are very friendly and only to happy to help you. Although kept very busy it is a very happy practice. The medical center itself is very up to date more so than one I previously went to in a large city."
"Waited days and days to get an appointment, finally managed to make one via email. Have had a gastro bug going on six days now and wouldn't let me keep my appointment due to having ONE cold and flu symptom of fever, which is obviously due to the gastro. Told to come back at 5pm or wait out the back in my car in the hopes that MAYBE I'll be seen. Not even close to good enough"
"Hard to get an appointment with your primary doctor within a week. The manage myhealth app is always crashing. Staff seems to turnover all the time although the ones that are there a nice."
