Welcome to BestStart, located at 9 Jones Crescent in Hamilton, New Zealand. We are not just your average kindy - we are a hidden oasis of nature. Our biggest treasure, aside from our wonderful children and families, is our beautiful orchard. Filled with fruit trees for climbing and tasty treats to try, our orchard is a place of exploration and discovery. We dig for worms and explore logs for bugs to feed our animals, and our orchard is home to three chickens, two rabbits, and even a frog!

Nature is at the heart of everything we do at BestStart Jones Crescent. We believe that there is as much to treasure in nature as there is in each child in our care. Just like the diversity of nature, each child brings something unique and valuable to our learning community. Our dedicated team of teachers are always learning and growing alongside the children. We learn from them as much as they learn from us. With regular professional development and learning from one another, we are constantly improving our skills to provide the best possible care and education to our BestStart Jones Crescent family.

At BestStart, we believe that the environment is a third teacher. The way our spaces are set up and the resources available for children to explore greatly influence how and what they learn. Each space is thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of the children and to foster their interests and curiosities. We provide an indoor-outdoor flow of natural resources and activities to ensure that children have the freedom to explore and learn in a nurturing environment.

Throughout the year, we also celebrate various cultural events and festivals. We recently celebrated Matariki, a traditional Maori New Year, and we also had a graduation ceremony for one of our tamariki. We believe in embracing diverse cultures and helping our children develop a better understanding of the world around them.
