About the Business
Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens South Brighton, a beachside kindergarten located in the heart of South New Brighton, Christchurch, New Zealand. Situated between the estuary and the sea, our kindergarten offers a unique and picturesque environment for your child to learn and grow.
Our location is truly special, as we are nestled next to the new Community Centre, allowing our children to observe and engage with the vibrant activities of their neighborhood. We take pride in being part of a close-knit and supportive community, with many of our families having lived in this area for generations. It's not uncommon to find second or third-generation Kindy Kids at our institution!
At Kidsfirst Kindergartens South Brighton, we provide a well-resourced and spacious learning environment that is both welcoming and child-centered. Our indoor space is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage creativity, and promote independent play. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and independence in our children, allowing them to facilitate and maintain their own play while developing leadership skills.
Outside, our beautiful big backyard offers numerous opportunities for gardening and nature exploration. Sustainability is a core value for us, and we prioritize caring for our wormery and natural environment in our daily program. Through these experiences, we aim to instill eco-awareness and the role of Kaitiaki (guardians) in our children.
Communication and collaboration within a group setting are also essential skills we teach at Kidsfirst Kindergartens South Brighton. Our children learn to show Manaakitanga (respect and kindness) as they share ideas and learn from each other. We value each person in our community as both a teacher and a learner, fostering a sense of inclusivity and connectedness.
Our teaching team is known for being friendly, welcoming, and inclusive. We believe that community and connectedness are at the heart of what we do. We cherish the relationships we build with our whānau/families and embrace the multiculturalism and diversity of our community. We encourage whānau to visit and actively participate in their child's kindergarten day, sharing their skills, knowledge, language, and culture to enrich our program.
In addition to our indoor and outdoor activities, we also venture out into the local area. Our tamariki (children) may visit Te Waka Aroha or the local rest home, strengthening their connection to the community and embracing their role as caretakers (kaitiaki) of the environment. We also maintain strong links with our local primary school to support a smooth transition for your child as they move on from kindergarten.
To ensure a smooth and consistent learning experience, we recommend enrolling your child for at least two full days, gradually building up to five days at their own pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provide tailored support for their learning journey.
Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time! We invite you to visit our kindergarten and experience the warmth and welcoming atmosphere firsthand. Our team will be delighted to show you around and make you feel at home.

"When I moved from afternoon to morning kindergarten, the kindergarten also moved from Pleasant Point to its new home in Bridge Street. So I was a first-day pupil at this establishment. I am guessing it must have been January 1957."
