Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens North New Brighton, located in the heart of our beach community in Christchurch, New Zealand. As you make your way up our long driveway, you'll be greeted by the silhouettes of happy children, guiding you to our gate.

At Kidsfirst North New Brighton, we have a dedicated and experienced teaching team who are passionate about supporting children to take the lead in their own learning journey. Through innovation, inquiry, and hands-on learning and discovery, we empower children aged 2-5 years to explore and ignite their thinking.

Our kindergarten is a place where learning happens at the child's pace, respecting and acknowledging the mana, wairua, and mauri that each child brings with them. We encourage our tamariki to be mindful of the world around them and to be respectful of the environment they play and learn in.

Inside our kindergarten, you'll find a variety of areas for children to engage in play experiences. From quiet and creative spaces to imaginative play areas, we provide a wide range of resources and equipment for children to choose from.

Outside, our beautiful, big backyard offers physical challenges such as climbing trees and specially designed equipment to support children's physical growth and development. Here, children learn to use real resources like saws, hammers, and gardening equipment, fostering their understanding of managing risk and making safe choices.

Our teaching team operates from a set of values that promote a love of learning, passion, and wonderment. We nurture your child's imagination, building on their interests, skills, and abilities, and valuing every person in our kindergarten as both a teacher and a learner.

At Kidsfirst North New Brighton, we see our kindergarten as an extension of home for children and their families. We foster a sense of respect for one another and the world we live in. Our environment promotes a "community of learners" where adults and children learn together (Ako me te Tuakana Teina), and we value the connections between kindergarten and home.

Community and connectedness are at the heart of what we do. We cherish the relationships we build with our whānau/families and embrace the multiculturalism and diversity of our community. We encourage family and whānau to share their skills, interests, languages, and cultures with the children, enriching their learning experiences.

We also have strong connections with our local kura/school to support a positive transition for your child when they go to school.

We recommend enrolling your child for at least two full days initially, gradually building up to five days at their own pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provides consistency in supporting their learning.
