Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens Phillipstown, located in the heart of a close-knit and diverse neighborhood in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our kindergarten is nestled down a long drive, surrounded by a vibrant community that regularly comes together for fun activities, celebrations, and support.

At Kidsfirst Phillipstown, we strive to create a homelike atmosphere indoors where children aged 2 to 5 years can engage with a range of carefully curated resources that encourage thinking and exploration. We embrace the mana, wairua, and mauri that our tamariki bring with them, fostering mindfulness, awe, and respect for the world around them and the environment they learn and play in.

Our beautiful, expansive backyard is a haven for outdoor exploration. Complete with chickens, a thriving vegetable and fruit garden, and various play areas such as a mud kitchen, sandpit, and wilderness area, our outdoor space challenges and supports physical development. We even have a giant tree that could fit a house under it and a global village that we are developing in consultation with the community. Rain or shine, our big backyard allows tamariki the freedom to engage with the natural world outside.

Our program is designed to inspire children to reach higher and explore all possibilities, based on their interests and desires. Our dedicated teaching team supports uninterrupted and sustainable play, nurturing problem-solving skills and fostering engagement within the learning environment. We see children as risk-takers and strategic thinkers, confident and capable. Te Reo Maori and tikanga are integrated into our daily practice, reflecting our commitment to embracing cultural diversity.

We have strong links with local primary schools, ensuring a smooth transition for your child as they move on from kindergarten. We recommend initially enrolling for at least two full days, gradually building up to five days at your child's pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provides consistency in supporting their learning.
