Welcome to Kidsfirst Kindergartens Riccarton, located in the quiet neighbourhood of Christchurch, on Harakeke Street. Our kindergarten is a point of interest and a school, serving children aged 2-5 years.

Situated just off Kilmarnock Road, our location is perfect for exploring the nearby Riccarton Bush. We often take our children on walks through the bush, allowing them to observe the changing seasons, listen to the birds, and enjoy the wide open space.

Our kindergarten building is warm and inviting, designed to spark and grow children's interests. We have dedicated areas for reading, relaxing, creating, exploring, constructing, dancing, baking, and playing with friends. Our resources are carefully chosen to encourage thinking and exploration, with elements of the natural world such as sand, shells, and wood incorporated into the play environment.

Outside, our beautiful backyard is filled with large, established trees and a gigantic sandpit that offers ample space for everyone. Children have the freedom to explore and engage with the natural world in all weather conditions. We also have grass and barked areas, gardens, and specially designed equipment to support physical growth and development.

Our tamariki (children) strengthen their connection through visits to Enliven and Totara House, where they share songs and games with older adults. We also have strong links with local primary schools, ensuring a smooth transition for children as they move on from kindergarten.

We recommend enrolling for at least two full days initially, gradually building up to five days at your child's pace. This allows our teachers to get to know your child and provides consistency in supporting their learning.
