"Spent year 9-13 here. In year 12 my parents divorced and I went from an excellence student to a failing one. No support was offered whatsoever. The school gave up on me, from top student to completely forgotten."
"wow. I spent year 9 til year 11 at this school, and let me tell you, I was miserable. At Hamilton Girls High School you are granted no self obsession, and the people in my classes weren't very nice to me. I was an incredibly shy teenager suffering from anxiety and depression, and I had no friends at HGHS. Girls are mostly judgemental, teachers are distant. At this school I felt zero connection to my teachers, I was never invited to come at a later time to get help with my work like I have experienced at the school I left HGHS for, and as for no self expression, you've all probably read in these reviews."
"This school definitely has its good experiences but you don't feel like it's a welcoming, expressing school due to the fact that teachers are so focused on the schools reputation and appearance that they don't even notice or seem to care about the amount of bullying in the school. It is like they just think the kids will "sort it out amongst themselves" when instead it results in dangerous situations. There's students in this school that have literally been chased down the road because of earrings?! And others being told to take off rings or the teacher would have a panic attack??? (she never did) They say it's a school for expression, but if someone even just bleaches their hair they're disrespecting the school motto. They're all liars too."
"this school has made me cry many times. the teachers dont care about the students but more about how they're wearing their uniform, hair dye, rings and nail polish. my mtm teacher said she would have a full on panic attack if i didnt take my rings off. it doesnt do much about the bullying either. im being bullied by this group of girls for being a trans boy and because im different to them. the councellors say theyll call you back but they dont do that very often. the only times they call me back is when im absent which is what i find weird. i absolutely hate this school and the staff in it."
"Terrible school, the teachers/management don’t do ANYTHING about bullying. I will forever be traumatised by my experience here. They seem to care more about hair colour and nail polish than actually improving your life. Some teachers are unfair and on power trips. No self empowerment is taught."
